I know exactly what one of my earliest encounters with them was because I still have the book (ignoring that in the 1990s we were still using a book published in 1973, it was a private-but-poor school, long story). Pretty certain we had shabby hardbacks of the Illiad and Odyssey in the library too.

this was my most popular tumblr post ever, from 2013. at the time, my reaction to these temperatures felt reasonable. Now I want them back.

Apparently I opened three links from The Bookseller daily newsletter too quickly and they've suspended my account??? I thought it was spam at first, but I'm getting a 404 on the site, and when I try to log in in a fresh instance my account isn't recognised. 🤯

Delighted.

My kitchen door which now has a white screen curtain that has magnets down the middle. It’s not pretty but it will keep the flies out and let me have the door open.

New ghost friend just arrived!

Turns out if you set out early enough in the morning you can do a walk through the park ending with an iced coffee and get back home in plenty of time to chill out for the rest of the day. Also, trees!

Morpeth Bagpipe Museum ✅ My dad belonged to the York branch of the Northumbrian Pipers Society and we used to go to a lot of meet ups when I was little. So wandering round the museum was a sudden throwback to find this banner, made by his friends whose house the meets were at.
