Riding the bus in Rome. Great information, very frequent service, not too many stops, tri-door boarding, fare is only €1.50, tap to pay, clean & modern very family friendly vehicles.
On a side and only tiny bit related note I attended Chair Phyllis Randall’s State of Loudoun County speech tonight and the strong revenues, dropping taxes, and overall economic growth happening in the data center capital of the world was very impressive.

Of note is that while the vast majority of this job loss was federal, the region ALSO lost private sector jobs, even though the private sector is still adding jobs in other major metro areas/the country as a whole. Nothing is more important than growing the economy but it's not going to be easy.
Agreed, but it does acknowledge the reality that there's been a collapse in supply in the past two years that is going to take time to fix. Pretending it didn't already happen would just be lying.
It's not actually slower than the status quo for the last two years. This is what's happened to housing production in DC. I think it's important we all acknowledge that's what's going on right now is a crisis and we shouldn't pretend it's not happening.
In Chinatown I saw the past and present colliding in extremely gritty ways. In the Expo area I felt like I saw what all cities will strive to be in the future. At dinner it felt like any city that has beach AND mountains is cheating. Somewhere in between I fell completely in love with Vancouver.
The AquaBus service is so frequent that I missed the ferry by about 30 seconds and then another one came before I could find a new podcast to listen to. I’d love to see this kind of more incremental approach to ferry service in the US.
The Vancouver @translink.ca buses have the same sexy upholstery as the new @wmata.com material! Love it.
Went to visit the Sen̓áḵw phase 1 site. This is an interesting project because it’s a wealth-building venture for the Squamish nation. Online it’s seemed like both YIMBYs and NIMBYs thought this was some kind of unusual super city but these are just some nice towers with amazing walkability.
