Retired furniture restorer (among other things). Loving life and enjoy travelling with my husband to places far & wide. Exerciser.. Hate the Tories, Brexit and right wing fascists.
Another section of the London Loop completed today. Section 15 from Harrow on the Hill to Elstree. 15km on a sticky and humid day, but not a bad walk. Longest section to come next.
Update. I did manage a 10km run but it was hard work and my left knee isn't great. Been a hectic week with lots of exercise, but hopefully this coming week might be a bit more relaxed.
Today we walked Sections 13-14 of the London Loop West Harefield to Hatch End/Pinner 18km. Mainly woodland in this section and it was all very dry. Nice day out in the fresh air, but it's on the other side of London to us and took ages to get to.
Saturday morning long run at 17km the longest distance in a quite a while. Home to Tower bridge then back along North side to Island Gardens through Greenwich foot tunnel and home from there. Knackered...
Did a bit more of the London Loop today. 6km from West Drayton where we left Section 11 last time and onto Section 12 to Harefield West, a total of 15km. Lovely walk mainly along the Grand Union Canal with some beautiful views. Absolutely shattered now as journey home was complicated!
Dawn at sea this morning.. taken from our balcony. En route to Barcelona..
Managed a 12km Saturday morning long run today. First one for a long time. Felt good and secure and was a good one. Quite pleased with my time. Weather was a bit grey with the occasional glimpse of sunshine with a slightly chilly wind. Lovely to see all the bluebells out in the park.
First 10k run for weeks this morning. Beautiful sunny day, but very chilly. Winter running jacket, woolly hat and neck warmer, gloves and I didn't overheat! Good time as well.
Big day today. Collected my very first brand new car..so happy with it. Love the colour..
The finished journal.. really quite pleased with it for a first attempt..
Had a fun day today at a bookbinding course. Made a journal from scratch! Loved it and managed to do quite well. Obviously the conservation/restoration skills came in handy. I'll post a pic of the whole thing tomorrow when it's finished drying.
Lovely wander around my "home" town this morning prior to going to the Beryl Cook exhibition this afternoon. Not bad weather.
Great morning at Kings Place for the monthly Bach, the Universe and Everything with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Really great music and a very amusing talk by Simon Brett the producer who brought Douglas Adams into our lives. He told some great stories about how it came about.
Visit 3 to fracture clinic. No operation happening. Not required as outcome the same. Wrist re-plastered and will remain for 4 more weeks. Now have snazzy new blue cast! It was lovely to take old one off.
Had to return to the Fracture clinic today to get my cast redone..I'm now sporting a lovely fluorescent pink arm!
Beautiful sunny day here, but a chilly wind. Got out and managed a 10km run for the first time since before Christmas. Think the pilates I've been doing has helped my legs/knees/hips, plus I've lost a bit of weight. Very happy with a 7:04 pace.
@duffycaramole.bsky.social went to an exhibition this afternoon and you came to mind when I saw these! Aren't they brilliant.. embroidered dusters..lol
Lovely walk along the dunes at Horsey Gap taking a look at the seals and their pups. Although they were a bit more spread out this visit, we managed to find a few groups. Bracing wind, but nice to be out in the fresh air.
Merry Christmas to everyone and let's hope that 2026 is a good year for us all.
Me and the hubby completed Section 9 of the London Loop today, 16kms from Kingston to Hatton Cross (Heathrow airport). Lovely pretty flat route through Bushey Park and along the River Crane. Amazingly saw my very first Kingfisher today too, so happy. Really nice walk.
Lovely day out walking Section 8 of the London Loop. Rain kept away and it was an easy flat route from Ewell to Kingston Bridge, albeit a bit muddy in places.
Lovely walk today, completing sections 6 and 7 of the London Loop, Coulsdon South to Ewell via Banstead. Nice green spaces and a bit of history along the way. People were very friendly! Nonsuch Place which was Henry Viii's hunting grounds was very nice and large with lots of different walks there.
Saturday morning long run today. Chilly out there, thankfully I got my winter wardrobe out yesterday! Hard work but nice to go through Greenwich park for a change.
Saturday morning long run. Hard work today especially the last couple of Kms! Very strange Dutch ship moored up in Greenwich.
Saw this lovely little fox on my run this morning. He just stood there and let me take his photo..
Good drive back to London from Devon this afternoon. Traffic quite light and some beautiful autumn colours in the trees and bushes. Nice lunch with friends in Exeter first and lots of doggie/cat cuddles.
Fabulous day at Boringdon Hall Gaia Spa, Plympton. Amazing treatment by the wonderful Jasmine and a beautiful environment in the spa. Nice pool, various saunas and steam rooms plus a hydrotherapy pool. Followed by a very nice Afternoon tea. Will definitely return!
Lovely afternoon seeing my brother, his partner Lorraine and their doggies. Walked to the Borough Arms at Dunmere along the Camel trail from our hotel in Wadebridge. Nice carvery lunch then walked it off on the way back. Over 28,000 steps today.
