James Turrell’s Gasworks. Explanation in alt text

Gasworks is a self-contained sphere into which the viewer is rolled, much like an MRI. As the viewer lies on their back, neon lights are timed to flash on the domed white wall periodically, causing an intense Gazfield, or total field, an experience of light as a homogenous visual field in which light has a palpable presence. Gasworks is part of a series called "Perceptual Cells," works that reflect Turrell's background in perceptual psychology. Inside Gasworks, the viewer experiences a lack of depth perception, and often cannot discern what is seen on the walls of the sphere, and what is actually seen in the mind's eye.

I’ve lived in a few places for work after growing up in West Sussex. We used to travel to places by caravan as a family so stayed in a lot of England, Wales and parts of Scotland.

A diagram of the UK divided into councils. Each is a different colour according to whether I have lived, stayed, visited or passed through. Some are blank if I have done none of those things.
