Boys Weekend Been wanting to read this one as a fan of Mattie's letterboxd reviews and it turns out her professional work is even funnier, Boys Weekend is a wild trip. The first but likely not be the last time I read an author this year specifically because I really like their letterboxd reviews lol

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil The lesbians are taking a break from murdering men to go after their homicidal ex and call me a romantic but I do love toxic lesbians trying to kill each other, that they're vampires is a bonus
The Salt Grows Heavy The misadventures of a mermaid and her plague doctor friend, this is one of those "wow I need to read more of this author" books. Fun prose and really fucked up in a good way
Crueler Mercies Oh hey another fantasy book about lesbians plotting to murder evil men. Despite how often these come up, I don't specifically seek them out it's just a lot of what's going on in lesbian speculative fiction but hey I'm not complaining. This one was alright.
Blood on Her Tongue This book is gnarly as hell with a fun spin on vampires that made the mystery focused first half more fun for me but the more straightforward plot that follows features sisters who will go to the ends of the Earth to protect each other from awful men and who can't appreciate that
Woodworking I love trans literature, I love trans literature, I love trans literature! Nothing else has the power to make you smile and laugh and then punch you in the gut right after. Extremely moving and I can already tell I'm going to be very annoying about getting people to read this one lol
Bloom into You Usually high school romance isn't my thing but this was really cute and a real highlight was the older sister and lesbian couple basically telling them "yeah it's chill being gay, you should ask her out." I stan supportive adults in stories about teens.
Frankenstein The reveal that, unlike its generally sympathetic depiction in popular media, the monster is kind of an evil bastard was legit shocking
Dracula Two Victorian doctors really see a young woman thriving and living her best life as an immortal creature of the night and decide the only rational solution is cutting her head off and stuffing her mouth with garlic
Donning the Celeste shirt for courage against the great needle fear as I go to my appointment to ask to switch to injections
Model Home A book which asks the question what is worse, living in a fucked up house or living in a neighborhood full of well off white people? I really adore haunted house fiction that uses flashbacks to examine how adults are haunted by childhood trauma. A really heavy but fantastic read.
