Seawater at the southern end of Mission Beach in San Diego -now routinely flooding during high tide. These images were taken during a 7.6 high tide on July 13 2026 This is the 2nd month seawater has filled the alleyway, alongside the the navigation channel leading from the ocean into Mission Bay.

This is the 2nd month that water has filled the alleyway, alongside the wall above the navigation channel leading from the ocean into Mission Bay.

Standing water was several inches deep as the tide entered the alley thru the storm drains.

Winds from storms this fall and winter will elevate the sea even more, potentially resulting in dangerous rises of 2 to 3 feet or more near the California coast. “This is the time for local governments, for county governments and for the state government to start to prepare for a significant likelihood of much higher than average sea levels, more disruptive coastal flooding and potentially record-breaking coastal water levels during winter storm events and king tide events,” Swain said. “This coming winter, right now, does look like one where there’s an increased likelihood of historically unusual to unprecedented rain and storm events,” Swain said.

DeLaughter is best known for leading the state's successful prosecution of Byron De La Beckwith for the assassination of civil rights leader Medgar Evers in 1994, more than 30 years after the crime. Two previous trials in 1964 following the event had resulted in hung juries; at the time, all the jury members were white because blacks had been prevented from voting in Mississippi and thus could not serve on juries. The state retried the case in 1994 based on new evidence.

In the image, leading Democrat Ms Pelosi is standing up at a large table, surrounded by male congressional leaders and top military officials, pointing her finger towards the president, who is seated opposite her and appears stunned.
Afterwards, Mr Trump took to his preferred social media platform, Twitter, to share the photo along with the caption: "Nervous Nancy's unhinged meltdown".
Ms Pelosi - who has said it was Mr Trump that had the "meltdown" - hit back by proudly making the image her cover photo on both Twitter and Facebook.

Homicide detectives are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in North Park Monday night that left a mother and son dead, officials said.

Neighbors called 911 after hearing gunshots and finding a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his head on the front porch of a home on San Marcos Avenue near Kalmia Street around 7:40 p.m. in the Burlingame area, San Diego police said.

Officers found a 51-year-old man on the porch suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound with a handgun nearby. Police initiated life-saving measures and paramedics transported the man to a hospital, but he could not be revived, officials said.

Inside the home, police found an injured 83-year-old woman who had been shot in her upper torso. Officers provided medical aid, but she died at the scene.
