We are a full-service wool mill in Fortuna, California with a small flock of rescued sheep. You can find us on Tik Tok and Etsy too.
I was asked to make a hand fasting braid that used local fiber, plants and their hair. Rather chuffed how it turned out.
Even the best working dogs can start out as a rescue. She still is wary of men but she’s a funny sweet girl. #foster
2020 when a tiny winter lamb arrived in the snow she chose her own bodyguard.
Please consider fostering or adopting. Jilly (and Benny behind her) were both rescues.
For those who don't know, pedigree dogs are in every shelter. Our deaf dalmatian, one of our working BC's, our ancient Llewellyn setter. All dumped into the system. 99 percent of the poor dogs in shelters are not there because they are bad or unworthy. Just unlucky. Our 3 are a blessing :)
We are offering bonded mill units (6% interest/5 year buy back) to expand the wool mill, add an annual festival, a community center and yarn store. Limited to 100. For our CFO’s email just DM me or use our website.
Set up your voicemails for transcription so you can report calls like this. Do NOT call them back. It’s a scam to empty your accounts.
One of our long term fosters went to her new home last week. Grateful for the update she’s happy and adjusting. #rescue
Wensleydale sheep (originally from the UK), now my little group of 10 supplies the wool for Marimba One’s mallets. One of the finest custom percussion instrument manufacturers in the world. I’m giddy our quality and dedication made the cut.
When the high school kids come through, I do a Vincent Price impression (of course, they have no idea who he is) and tell them that while I might appreciate little bits of human woven into my yarn, most people might not care for it. That always gets a giggle.
Why do we always tell people all of the machines will NOT be running during the tour? Because of all the bitey bits that spin wicked fast and the propensity for people to reach out and ask, 'Is it really sharp?'
These two Wensleydale lambs were born just in time for a wish- Happy Mother’s Day to all those mum’s and especially mine so far away I can’t hug her today.
Adopt when you can. Foster when you can. You will be amazed what’s looking for a home. #deafdal
Moss (retired from trialing last year) sees sheep (not ours) and expresses his dismay that he and Maggie are not needed to 'work'.
Ahem. I bought a drop spindle. Then a spinning wheel. Then a tabletop carder. 2 years later, I spent my life savings, 401k, pension, and dropped half a million into a wool mill. Hobbies are great until you have a husband who enables your dream of a wool mill and fluffy little sheep nobody eats.
Spring is here so once again I have walked a few sheep to an elderly neighbor for yard cleanup. Lovely British breed- Wensleydales. I miss Boston often but actually taking a stroll with sheep and the dogs feels like I’m living a childhood dream.
Sidekick on first cross-country rescue transport (we were volunteers).
With the man who said, "No, we don't need another broken dog."
One month after her first vet visit. Everything cured but the deaf bit. :) She still wears a bell so I know where she is in the house.
She was mangy, flea bitten, had damage to her tail, worms, and then she failed the hearing test. So of course she was treated, and we have loved her for all these years.
