This bio (of an actor with a minor role in Voicemails for Isabelle) is insane! I feel so inadequate now.
Today someone brought a new service animal into the library. It was a rooster.
I just finished reading The Price of Mercy by Emily Galvin-Almanza. It's an incredibly compelling, infuriating, yet ultimately hopeful book about everything that's wrong with our criminal justice system, as well as concrete, proven ways to make it better. I wish everyone would read it.
I like how the second most popular answer is Not Sure. Where can I get my Not Sure 2028 bumper sticker?
I'm not saying it don't hurt to be awake in this world. But stay awake my darlings. - Marsha P. Johnson
There Is No Place for Us by Brian Goldstone is one of the most upsetting books I have ever read, and I think everyone should read it.
In case you are ever too tired to play with your cat with a piece of string, I just discovered a YouTube channel which is just a piece of string going across the screen.
I was just struck by this definition of a Windigo (a human turned cannibalistic monster) in the book Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Kimmerer.
Check out this garbage can shell-ebration in honor of #invertefest!
I got bitten by one of these at work today. It was on the floor under the craft cabinet and had one of its mandibles stuck in a blue seed bead. It didn't appreciate my attempts to help. To be fair, I was the one who spilled a box of seed beads earlier this year, so I suppose it was my fault.
A sweet note for the Madagascar hissing cockroaches at the library where I work
I will never be as enthralled by anything as my cat is by this one Cat TV video
I am in love with these Disappointing Affirmations stickers from Dave Tarnowski.
I didn't see this snail, but it left a beautiful maze on my doorstep
Not only is there a new Mary Roach book, there's a new Butt or Face!
A big thank you to @michaelianblack.bsky.social for writing I'm Bored. It's one of my favorite picture books to read at storytime, even on days, like today, when I might prefer to be a potato.
There needs to be a word for the combination of admiration and revulsion I feel on learning that cellar spiders (like this one I just found) carry their egg sacks around in their mouths until they hatch.
I'm working today, but my daughter keeps texting me pictures of this huge wolf spider she found in the garage.
Watching the Owl House with my teenager, and this line struck me as strangely topical. (My daughter says that's why she's re-watching the show). King: No one wants to think they've wasted their life following the wrong person.
I was startled to see this agave plant looming over my backyard fence from next door and looking like the world's biggest asparagus.
Yesterday I made the rookie mistake of reading a book at storytime without previewing it all the way through. A parent recommended it, and the kids did enjoy guessing what the dog's nose would be on each page: a cloud, a tree, a cactus. But y'all, THE DOG NEVER FINDS HIS NOSE!
