I knew Newgrange was an amazing Neolithic site in Ireland, but I had no idea about Knowth, in many ways more stunning. So much stone art, and numerous smaller satellite tombs.

Marsh Baldon has an annunciation by Battoni (1708-1787), which was originally in Corpus Christi College chapel (where we sing in the choir) till Corpus acquired a Rubens altarpiece and evidently decided Battoni was a bit passé. (I prefer the Battoni. Not a great Rubens fan. Too much flesh) 3/3

As we approach our 40th anniversary here's a monument from Hampton Gaye church to Anne Barry "in testimonye of the love she did ever bear to hir deceased husband with whom she lived in great love and contentment by the space of 35 yeares" and her two daughters, Katherine and Margarett. 1/3
Thinking of David Hockney, I loved this on our last day in Italy. A sign at the door of a church dedicated to Santa Rita in Lugo says in Italian: 'you are requested NOT to bring dogs into church for ANY reason'. Underneath someone has written: 'Santa Rita would welcome them with love'. 🐕🐩🦮
But this beautiful kestrel fledgling had a tough first day out of the nest. He was initially grounded and attacked by two pigeons. We gently encouraged him to fly into a cedar tree where he's spent the day gradually getting higher. Finally this evening the parents seem to have rediscovered him. 2/2
