I wrapped up my UK trip at the London office of @wilsonsonsini.bsky.social, a California-based law firm, where I spoke with British investors about the opportunities and benefits of doing business in the Golden State.
It was so great to visit & tour @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social! During this visit, I met with Imperial College VP Amanda Wolthuizen to discuss opportunities for collaboration on academic research & an exciting partnership between our UC campuses & the Russell Group of UK research universities.
Today, I joined British Consul General Eleanor Kiloh and British Business Bank Chairman Stephen Welton to discuss the strength of British investment in California, particularly in the aerospace and aviation tech sectors.
What an amazing experience to be visited at the California pavilion by Apollo 16 Lunar Module pilot and the 10th man to walk on the moon, Astronaut Charlie Duke — a true American hero and space pioneer.
Honored to have met Deputy Mayor @howarddawber.bsky.social at the Farnborough Airshow today. We had a great conversation about the strong ties between London and California as global hubs for innovation, investment, and growth in the aviation and aerospace technology sectors.

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. We honor the lives lost by gun violence and raise awareness of the epidemic that takes nearly 130+ lives every day, which is roughly 47,000 lives yearly. Thoughts and prayers are not enough – this ongoing tragedy of gun violence must come to an end.
Momentum is building in the #CALeg! Proud to see these priority bills advance last week, and looking forward to seeing them, along with other key legislation, move through committee next week.

Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day. Last week, I attended both the CA Peace Officers and CHP memorial ceremonies to honor the 13 CA peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty last year and the 232 CHP officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice since the CHP was founded in 1929.

Yesterday was National Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples’ Day (MMIP). This is a heartbreaking and unacceptable reality for many Native American families. We must continue to advocate for accountability, justice and systemic change.
I’m saddened by the passing of Doris Fisher. She was a visionary Californian whose creativity led to the birth of the iconic Gap brand in SF. Her commitment to education and the arts shaped our city & state. Her legacy lives on in the communities she uplifted & the lives she touched.
