I was messing around with Weez doing his dramatic flops and his claw caught the bottom of my foot and it hurts/itches lol like I stepped on glass I forgive him tho. We snuggle every morning
Got some back door-dirty glass pix of 4 or 5 goldfinches all feeding on the same bush! a volunteer plant too. the post has a decorative bell on top and clematis growing on the near side. an owl-shaped suet feeder is hanging from the post (leftovers of MiL’s decor)
Ahh I double checked, my 2 biggest ones are false aster (white flowers) and New England aster (purple). I started from seed and forgot you’re supposed to chop them in spring for BUSHY growth 🤦🏻♀️
Shitty photo featuring ubiquitous catbird. Thrasher had been preening. Maybe it had jumped in the water dish
Sorry about the alt text - previous image was a long black bug with blueish iridescent wings on a cluster of small white flowers.
Checking out the bustling pollinator business out back. Saw this huge dude in the mountainmint, blurry video still was enough to identify as a CLUBBED MYDAS FLY! Native to the region. It’s a mimic and really confused me at first lol
I thought the swamp milkweed was choked out by the aggro anise hyssop but it’s ok!! It’s about to bloom!! There are 3 of these spiderwebs in there, some kind of Orb Weaver. the webs are super cool, like multi layered.
AFTER! Finally we can use the gate again 😭 matt doesn’t even know how long ago they were planted. At least 2 decades
The vinca can be pulled every spring but it’s under a scrap metal heap so I’ll never get all of it. However the sweet autumn clematis vine is woody and fibrous. It dries out and creates a thick mat over the years. I found an abandoned birds nest deep in the thick of it! Here is the BEFORE
On a happier note, the monarda punctata Spotted bee balm is starting to bloom!
She is already a snuggler and loves scritches. Touch her back and tail goes UP
I have been hesitant to release this image onto the internet because it is too perfect, too pure. This baby’s attitude cannot be contained, however. in a way it has already been unleashed into the world, as I have sent it to various select parties. So now to you I present: the littlest little shit
Here’s the boys today. They are gonna be 3 years old this fall but we will call them the babies for bee
BING BONG Who wants to make an me offer for this ancient youth large Knicks shirt??😉
I took off work yesterday and spent the afternoon pulling weeds, transplanting these swamp milkweeds & a clustered mountain mint. I quickly rigged up the rabbit-proof fence even tho I don’t have the right fence posts yet. catbirds kept me company THE WHOLE TIME.
Maybe it’s the very straight bridge that makes it seem big to me but i guess it is proportionate to his face
Last time I stumbled on this “chat path” which I must have walked before but seemed unfamiliar?? thickets on either side and it was so beautiful with the sun filtering through the leaves I cried! This was after I touched the stinging nettle lol eventful day
The park council’s post said “Behind” Wellington woods trail. I can’t find it now but someone encountered them near the trailhead by the Sherwood House. I think they meant this area?? I put that yellow blob. Haven’t seen for myself tho!
AKA “Valeriana” sorry babygirl. I got excited when I saw this map! She’s very specific and even rare! (lol sure hope I got this ID right)
