Galway Gardener, garden design and maintenance. Lefty environmentalist, love good public parks, and biodiversity.
Bloody immigrants going to Hungary and killing women. The good men of Hungary should riot and run the Irish out of the country. Isn't that how this works?
In the lake district on a wee holiday, quietly cheering cheering on the Congo...
I was at the @galwaycity.ie Galway Climate Festival this morning at a talk by @thinkorswim.bsky.social about how fucked we all are..... And then Sharon Shannon came on and it was great craic 😂 so that cheered me up. Good festival. Fair play to all involved.
I see your aerlingus AI bot and raise you the Ryanair AI chat bot. I needed to contact the car hire people and asked for a phone number- very complicated question!!!!
Ah yes AI chat bots. Fantastic thing altogether. Can't even provide contact details. Like that's a pretty basic simple request.
We need to stop using happy beach pics for climate change stories You wouldn't do it for traffic accidents @irishtimes.com
They use stock photos all the time. I'm in horticulture and EVERY SINGLE ARTICLE ABOUT HORTICULTURE shows that image of a pair of hands cupping a seedling 🙄 It's an attitude that warm weather =good happy people Not climate change or problems
A 20 second search for 'over heating worker'. As someone who works outside I am NOT enjoying this weather. Images of beaches and ice cream drive me mad. Beyond time we get real about combat change in media.
They are all up very high on poles. So you'd need a ladder. Or a spray can....i was thinking not an extendable pole saw and bringing them down (i have one)
So this is an example of the absolute shite that the Irish peoples party have up around galway city and county as election posters for this by election. Their candidate is AJ Cahill, who seems to be the entire party and self funded. I've reported it to both councils. 1/3
Looking in from another country, tells a very different story. Firearms aren't even on the list, and road traffic incidents are around 6% of childhood deaths. Mind you, there were no gun deaths in Ireland at all last year for the first year in a long time. America is so f*cked up....
Went to a live recording of the inside politics pod from the Irish Times re Galway West by election. Entertaining evening. Enjoyed it. Like the rest of the media they talked an awful lot about Ind Noel Thomas. As if everyone in Galway owns a tractor and was at a fuel protest 🙄
I'd a lovely day today in Loughrea at the Galway County Council biodiversity day. Really good speakers, including Jesmond Harding, who was there with his new book on Irish butterflies. Great buzz around a well run event.
Nigel Dunnet has passed away this week. A garden designer I really admired. I had the good fortune to do an online master class with him last year. He is a true loss to horticulture.
They missed the IRB, the Irish Republican Brotherhood. Into sovereign citizenship, have their own currency. Noel Thomas Independent Ireland candidate in the Galway West by election.
For comparison, in Ireland it has dropped during covid, but is stabilising, and 6 years higher than the UK.
And the MEP is Ciaran- tanks on the streets- Mullooly And it was not an honest mistake. He's an Irish MEP and a journalist. He knew to check his sources and chose not to and say in Europe that the Irish gov. had turned the (we don't actually have any) tanks on its own people.
Yes but the other issues are issues for all women in sport. From a young woman trying to jog in her local park up to the olympian killed by her partner for winning after the last Olympics. Let's not forget the American gymnastic team and Larry Nassar. To this shit
They have such good handwriting!!! Here's my great grandfather, who was a clerk, so he wrote for a living. But still.... the style...
As an Irish horticulturist I've never heard any of those plants called those names! The lenten rose is a hellebore. And the Easter Lilly worn in commemoration of the Easter rising is Zantendeschia.
I disturbed a queen bumble bee having a nap in a calendula flower in the polytunnel today when I unintentionally watered the flower. A wee leg was raised and waved up at me in irritation. So many queen bumbles out and about at the moment. Love to see them.
