Happily married disabled Mum to 2 romanian rescues and 2 (now 1 🙁) humans trying to survive in Germany. Please don't DM me. I don't auto follow back.
I'd just like to formally apologise to everyone who has suffered in the current heatwave in Europe. I didn't realise (or I would have gone earlier) that all I had to do was go on a camping holiday for it immediately to start pissing it down...
The person got him all patched up and then posted pictures of him online. I spotted this photo and was instantly smitten and that was that. The person arranged for him to travel nearly 1800km to our home where he met Sarah our older dog and his two older brothers who love him very much
When I was cleaning the chicken's waterer this morning I accidentally used high pressure and sprayed EVERYTHING! But my wet trousers are worth it because this little fellow perched on the dusty table for a moment just long enough to take this snap. Google says it's a Bombylius major (awesome name)?
Lovely day today - baked cupcakes, then went to see my eldest helping pop up the Maibaum then (he was tipsy and sunburnt which seems to be on brand for Mai Baumstellen) then home to meet up with my lovely neighbours for tea cake and biscuits.
Today I am being the "responsible" adult for a bunch of teens which basically means sitting in the sun and occasionally yelling "put the sharp stick DOWN". View could be worse though...
Today is my 50th birthday and I know it's a "big" one but I'm not particularly bothered EXCEPT for 2 things - the cards from my kids - first card is the dopey teens offering and the second is Grumpy teens.
Yesterday I learned, when the chickens are pootling round the garden, don't do anything sudden... I moved a chair and this feather-brain startled and flapped over the fence. He then couldn't figure out how to get back to his ladies so my grumpy teen had to execute a grab and throw maneuver...
Annoyingly I left my phone on the side so no photos of Rex sat on my knee looking offended at my lack of sharing but some earlier photos of the birds and Stumpy (I've been very pleased about how chill he is about them - turned to look at one causing them to run and he didn't give chase ♥️)
Sat sipping my tea by the open door, watching Stumpy pootle round the garden when this little marauder flew in sat on the pouffe for a moment or two, flew out and started picking dog hair off the dogs bed. He was then chased off with his booty by a feisty blue tit who proceeded to steal hair too
Our lovely old lady passed in the night. We knew our time with her was winding down but didn't expect it to happen so quickly (we were only discussing the first signs of doggy dementia the evening before). That patch of sunlight and my heart shall forever be hers.
Today I was using up gifted beautiful aubergines but sadly I roasted them and then tasted a little of eat before adding it to the blender to make Baba Ganoush but obviously missed one that was really bitter as it is completely inedible :(
Not sure she has collected enough cushions to fully recover from this morning's strenuous herding job...
A whole 6 seater with extraneous cushions and he has to use my foot as a pillow...
On my way home to Blighty for the traditional throwing of the grandparents but stopped for a pee and a coffee at this gorgeous train station (got caught in heavy sleet on the way back to the car though)
I think we are seeing the contents of it's stomach being digested but I'm a programmer not a marine biologist Jim 😁🖖
Couple of hours work in the garden today before it clouded over and got chilly, Stumpy is exhausted from dodging the scary chickens but Sarah wants to head back out
Having proudly guarded the first two eggs from my girls, this morning John and I ate them - he had his boiled, I had mine fried with an additional shop bought medium egg on bread - the difference in size was substantial!
Another egg! Pretty sure it's Lizbet again as they are some similar in size. I realise no one else is interested but I am over the moon!
Poor soggy dog - it's 11am and already been caught in 3 hail showers. Even worse when he comes in he's attacked by an evil towel and silly pictures are taken - Had him all set up like Mother Theresa butthe moment that i snapped there was a crack of thunder so no cute furry nun pics for you!
My ladies laid their first egg! They actually laid a second that broke as I picked it up as it had no shell but the girls are young so this is likely to happen once or twice. (Plenty of calcium available to them) Strangely proud...
This is Stumpy - he is down a leg. Fortunately he kept his brain in that leg so has never really noticed the loss... (It's suprising how well he does on just 3) Hope Germs recovery is fast and smooth ❤️
Stumpy was terrified of them at first but eventually screwed his courage to the sticking place and came to lay by the cage when he figured out they couldn't get out (he'll have a rude awakening in a couple of weeks when they are allowed to roam the whole garden).
Today was the ENCHICKENING! A Sundheimer rooster (sold last year to a Friend as a hen but when she turned out to be a he and she already has a rooster, he became ours, a Sussex hen and a pair of Easter eggers.
