With more warm weather on the way, please take extra care of your four-legged friends. Never leave a dog in a hot car, even for a few minutes, and walk them when it’s cooler. Dogs Trust has some really useful advice on keeping dogs safe in the heat. Dogs Trust
Andy Burnham might say Scotland shouldn’t have the choice, but people in Scotland clearly think differently. Todays new poll puts support for independence at 52%. Join the Scottish Greens and let’s build the fairer, greener Scotland we know is possible 💚
Aspen Offshore Wind Farm's onshore proposals are now out for consultation, including plans for a new substation. If you're in the area, come along to the public events in Newtonhill (20 Aug) or Stonehaven (24 Aug) and have your say. More info: aspen.ceruleanwinds....
Delighted to lodge this motion recognising the fantastic work of the Montrose LandxSea Film Festival. It brings people together through powerful environmental storytelling, inspiring discussion and action. Wishing everyone involved every success for this year's festival.
Israel's assault on Gaza demands that we listen to those risking everything to deliver aid. Join the DNTA and Dr Antonis Vradis as he shares his first-hand experience aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla after being detained by Israeli forces. 📍Queen's Hotel, Dundee, 25 Aug, 7pm. #Gaza #Palestine
The killing in Gaza continues, and journalists continue to be targeted. If you're able to, join this protest outside BBC Scotland on Friday 14 August at 12 noon to call for honest reporting and an end to media silence over Israel's genocide #FreePalestine #Gaza
Good food should be something everyone can access. I'm pleased to lodge this motion welcoming the progress towards a public diner in Dundee. It's an exciting step towards tackling food inequality, strengthening communities and building a fairer food system.
81 years on from Hiroshima, we remember those who were killed and everyone whose lives were forever changed by nuclear weapons. Their legacy is a reminder that we should never stop working for peace and nuclear disarmament. Scotland can choose a different path, free from Trident and nuclear weapons.
While many students are excited to start university, families in Dundee are facing the loss of the university nursery. My thoughts are with the staff losing their jobs and everyone affected. Universities are communities, and cuts like these hurt us all. Read more: www.thecourier.co.uk...

Communities are at the heart of climate action. Congratulations to Sustainable Kirriemuir on securing £250,000 to support its vital work over the next four years. I'm proud to have recognised this achievement in a motion to the Scottish Parliament.
Worth reading Kaigan Carrie's piece in today's Times on the growing care needs of older prisoners. She's right: prisons were never designed to be care homes. It's unfair on prison staff and older prisoners alike to expect complex care needs to be met behind bars. We need meaningful prison reform now
I'm pleased to have lodged a motion welcoming Abertay University ambitious heat exchange project. Harnessing waste heat from our sewer network could cut emissions, lower energy bills and help transform how Dundee is heated. 🌍💚
@dundee.ac.uk maths courses are ranked #1 in the National Student Survey, yet they're facing suspension. I've lodged a motion urging the university, council and Scottish Government to work together to protect these vital courses and the future of higher education in Dundee.
New North Sea drilling won't bring down bills. It won't deliver a jobs boom either. Adura's own figures show just 27 direct jobs at Jackdaw. This is a giveaway to oil giants, not a plan for people or the climate. After weeks of hot, dry weather, we need renewables more than ever #ClimateEmergency
Delighted to lodge a motion in Parliament recognising Friends of St Fittick's Park £73,795 National Lottery award. Protecting and investing in community green spaces delivers real benefits for people, nature and climate. Congratulations to everyone who made this happen! 🌱
After wildfires in the Cairngorms and at Arthur's Seat this weekend, huge thanks to everyone tackling these devastating blazes. The climate crisis is here. We must properly fund our fire service and act urgently to cut emissions. Image credit: STV News #Cairngorms #Wildfires #ClimateEmergency
As we see the far right taking hold on our streets & in our communities, we must remember the call from 90 years ago to defend democracy & resist fascism: "Nae Pasaran!" I've lodged this Scottish Parliament motion to remember those who joined the International Brigades against Franco's fascism.
When we're at our most vulnerable, carers are there. Their dedication deserves to be heard. If you're a carer or former carer, share your experience through the Carers UK State of Caring Survey and help shape change. www.surveymonkey.com...
Thousands of people in Venezuela urgently need shelter, food, clean water and medical care after two devastating earthquakes. Your support can help families rebuild their lives. If you are able, make a donation @decappeal.bsky.social #VenezuelaAppeal
This Saturday, join Aberdeen SPSC on the beach in solidarity with Palestine. As a coastal community, we stand with Palestinians defending their waters, livelihoods and freedom. I'm proud to support this family-friendly event. 3pm – look out for the Palestine flags opposite the Range #FreePalestine
Westminster's #GBEnergy has identified sites across the North East for new nuclear power. But with our region's huge renewable potential, we don't need costly, dangerous nuclear plants. I'll keep standing with Scottish Greens against toxic nuclear energy. Source New Civil Engineer [Unofficial]
💰 US $2.9 trillion in 2025 💰 That was global military spending last year. £60 billion in the UK for 2024-25. That’s money not spent on healthcare, vaccines, housing, climate adaptation… any social justice or for good issues. Stark stuff at Aberdeen Climate Action Cafe discussion this evening

Yesterday I used my my Member's Business Debate to share the experiences of staff and students at Dundee, Aberdeen & Universities across the country. They are not the problem, and the deserve much better.
