The Lion King (1994) I don’t even care if it’s good or not, this movie is a cognitohazard of longing for having paws and a tail and running around on all fours
PowerWash Simulator: Midgar Special Pack Director Reeve why are you texting your janitorial contractor we are in the middle of a terrorist bombing
Rhythm Heaven I’m gonna try to pick up an actual DS copy of this before I play any more because trying to use a mouse in place of the touchscreen controls was probably a bit of a mistake 💦 Very cute game though :)
Frankenweenie (2012) A strange, heartwarmingly macabre tale that eventually devolves into your favorite insane Tim Burton antics The black-and-white stop-motion look is a perfect choice for the lonely 1950s(?) suburbia setting, and the film’s chock full of references to horror classics 7/10
Squeakross: Home Squeak Home Adorable combo between rat-sona creator + dress-up game, house builder, and one of the most solid picross games I’ve played. Its hint system makes solving puzzles breezy w/out taking too much agency away from the player. I gave my rat self a little chef hat
RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike The operation of the simulated coin pusher, and the scoring and physics of the coins are all incredibly satisfying. Unfortunately, like other contemporary roguelikes, most runs end up feeling similar, and its scoring systems obfuscate a bit too much for my tastes
Ohhh my god the burger’s priest. What a place. It’s not sold anymore but they used to have a variant of this called The Vatican on Ice, which. well…
Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (KH 1.5 Remix cinematic) STOP SAYING “HURT” PLEEEEEEEASE 3/10
A Little Prayer What a beautiful film. A perfect illustration of the gentle ways family drama can fester and the quiet in which that pain can hide. David Straitharn is so watchable, and he knocks it out of the park here Sad to hear about its rough distribution, and I hope more folks see it! 9/10
Stick Fight: The Game Immediately brought me back to the mid/late 2010s era of indie party games. Simple gameplay loop, quick rounds, whaling on your friends, calling it quits after 30 minutes and everyone’s bored — what more do you need? Not even awful netcode could stop me from getting giggly
It Takes Two The novelty and surprise of its ever-changing gameplay has worn off after several playthroughs, but it’s still quite a solid co-op game, especially for platforming novices. The characters are NOT likable for half the game, but there’s a few chapters where I really warmed to them
Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus The aerial-focused combat is super snappy at its best, becoming a neat combo building game of “floor is lava”. Metroidvania elements are mixed, with some mechanics/upgrades feeling tacked-on in the grand scheme, though the linear mini-dungeon segments are quite fun.
Hot cross buns for Easter tomorrow! My piping work with a ziploc bag is a bit sloppy, but I’m hoping they taste good anyway!
Lingo I enjoy puzzles quite a bit, but something about the structure of these Witness-like open world “learn it yourself” puzzle games just turns me off, and this is one of the more obtuse ones I’ve tried. Despite my love of wordplay, I don’t think I have the energy to continue here [DROPPED]
Knives Out Feelings have cooled a bit on multiple rewatches, but I still appreciate its ridiculous sense of humor and its constant misdirection around the whodunnit genre— wait a minute this is just a Columbo episode!!! 7/10
OPENED UP THE NINTENDO APP FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MONTHS AND IMMEDIATELY GOT JUMPSCARED BY THIRD LEG ROSALINA
Mission: Impossible III The plot and pacing are stronger this time around, but are traded for an oppressively-grim tone that feels an odd fit, especially when combined with JJ Abrams’s trademark quippy banter. Action scenes are solid and nutty as ever, as are the espionage antics 6/10
Sonic 3D Blast (Saturn) Awesome early 3D visuals and a (mostly) stellar soundtrack are the highlights here! Controls are a bit too slippery for the level of precision the game expects at times, and Flicky hunting (followed by Flicky protecting) can become tedious in certain stages. 5/10
Men in Black Kind of the ideal in terms of schlocky action-comedies. Knows what it’s about, and plays itself mostly straight, no matter how ridiculous the context. Will Smith has great range here, and you can’t go wrong with Tommy Lee Jones. 7/10
