I think I need to rewatch this arc again to have more detailed thoughts on it, to be honest. But when taking these screenshots it really hit me just how messed up that Daughtress got. goddamn.

This Week's Gundam X Episode Episode 7: "I'm Selling This Gundam!" Originally aired May 17, 1996 This episode makes me wonder exactly how currency even works in After War. I love the mechanic who wants his pic taken with all the Gundams so much, just a fun bit.

okay so i finally feel ready to share this. my mom died suddenly earlier this month. i didn't really want to make noise about it because im a very private person but I think i'm finally in the right mind space to be open about it. family has been helping with arrangements and everything else and... idk. it feels weird to say "I'm doing ok" when I'm clearly not doing ok *gestures at the process of grief* but i've been holding up so far. we were very close and since i don't drive she always took me to my appointments and stuff. she helped me so much even if there was a lot i never really felt like I could talk to her about. im going to miss her and im so anxious about what my future holds but i want to keep finding joy in my life which is why ive been trying to stick to my usual online activities, jamilposting etc. im not sure how much more im going to speak about it on a public space but i wanted to let everyone know. 🥺

Last Week's Gundam X Episode Episode 6: "It's Offensive" Originally aired May 10, 1996 Sorry I'm late! I think this episode is the only time Sara/Sala speaks the title. There's a lot packed into this episode! But of course the scenes with Techcs and Jamil are my favorite...

This is another fun episode to think about from Jamil's perspective, putting his trust in the kid he had thrown in the brig not too long ago. I adore the final scene that establishes the Freeden as home for Garrod and Tiffa. (Even if there aren't any screenshots of it here...)

The Gundam X is restrained by the Gundam Ashtaron while the Gundam Virsago lunges with its beam saber in an attempt to destroy the cockpit and kill Garrod.

This Week's Gundam X Episode Episode 5: "You Pull the Trigger" Originally aired May 3, 1996 Another Jamil quote this week. The climax of the 1st arc is delightful. Witz and his stash of gold bars! The Frost bros being a menace! A big scary mobile armor! Jamil taking a spill from a hoverbike!

This week debuts Kid and the mechanics, and the Glup Shitto squad of the Vulture captains who come to assist Jamil. Techcs is a standout character even this early on. I also appreciate how Jamil directly admits to his PTSD. The bluntness surprised me during my first watch!

Garrod sneaks into the medbay and is about to blow some sleep dust on Dr. Techcs, who looks mildly annoyed by the whole thing.

"I'd rather that you didn't interrupt my reading."

It's Rosa Intenso! She's on video call with Jamil right now.

"And you're as good a liar as ever. But I'll let it go."

This Week's Gundam X Episode Episode 4: "This Operation Is a Race Against the Clock!" Originally aired April 26, 1996 Jamil gives us this episode's title. It took me so long to post this time because I didn't know how to narrow down what to yap about. It's a big one for Jamil enjoyers!

The Freeden's bridge crew turn to Jamil and ask him to reveal his motives surrounding Tiffa. Toniya, Shingo, and Sara stand under harsh fluorescent light with serious expressions.

All the debuting characters get some pretty memorable moments here. I think about the scene with Techcs and the flowers at least once a week. It's a side of him we don't see as much as after the series progresses past the initial arc. It's also just really funny to me.

This Week's Gundam X Episode Episode 3: "My Steed is Vicious" Originally aired April 19, 1996 Shagia speaks this episode's title. We get our introduction to the Frost Brothers here, as well as Dr. Techcs. I love the sequence of Jamil using the grapple gun to climb aboard the GX sooooo much.

Again, it's hard to pick one standout scene here, but the Satellite Cannon's first activation is appropriately chilling and does an incredible job showing the devastation it's capable of.

Garrod and Tiffa have stopped to rest. Tiffa reaches out to place her hands on Garrod's. Behind them is the Gundam X and a forest scene.

"Warm... hands."

Mobile suits in combat, all fighting for the privilege to get their hands on the Gundam X. It's a chaotic scene dyed in ominous red lighting.

The Gundam X's Satellite Cannon activates, bursting an enormous, bright beam of blue light. It's tearing up the ground below its path.

Aboard the Freeden bridge, the light from the activation washes the observers out with an eerie glow. Jamil sits in the captain's chair, watching in horror.

"A nightmare from 15 years ago."

This Week's Gundam X Episode Episode 2: "I'll Give You Power..." Originally aired April 12, 1996 It's Tiffa's turn to name this week's ep. This arc is extra fun on rewatches, with knowledge to see things from Jamil's perspective and fully grasp how much of a TERRIBLE TIME he must be having here.
