Spend my days working with smart people in the research science space. Truffle hunter. Scottish. Likes to ride bikes. Also have side projects building www.afterloss.uk and www.spendapenny.uk.
Me to a friend at around the 70 minute mark. Tuchel should have listened to me.
I made a short animation last night (mostly for my own interest) to show how AfterLoss.uk manages dependencies between steps following a death - some legally-enforced, others country-specific, and some cultural. This one highlights the eight steps needed to get from Will to probate.
Heatwave over. Great! Time to cool off, get some proper sleep and let the dog have a proper play in the park. Or maybe not.
As well as our Probate Checker, our free Inheritance Tax checker gives you an estimate in a few minutes, from three or four questions. It handles the residence nil-rate band, the spouse transfer, and the 2027 pension change many calculators miss. Try it: afterloss.uk/tools/iht-checker
Planning ahead is an act of love. A quiet way to take some weight off the people you'll leave behind: where the will lives, what you'd like at the funeral, who needs to be told. A short look at how AfterLoss helps you plan ahead, gently and in your own time. afterloss.uk
A major update from Afterloss after user feedback. You can now plan ahead for end of life, not only manage tasks after someone has passed. And when the time comes, everything you've prepared activates instantly. Deadlines appear, guidance adapts, and nothing is lost. afterloss.uk @afterlossuk

When Conan Doyle killed off Sherlock Holmes, it triggered the loss of 20,000 subscriptions to the Strand Magazine. To recoup lost revenue and placate outraged readership, the magazine serialized a new Holmes adventure as a “prequel.” For some reason, this reminded me of Fox News and Dominion.
Back home in Scotland for Christmas, I always check in on the local Facebook group - never fails to impress me how community-minded my small town is. ❤️

This is our dog, Fiddle. He volunteers for neighborhood watch. Unfortunately, he only sets off the alarm when he sees another dog on *his* street.
One of these headlines would have been enough. Talk about flooding the zone...
Reading an article about an American couple's challenges in learning French reminded me of how *hard* English is.
It's a dull Sunday, so I thought I'd do some quick sleuthing. Looks like they extended the surgery, but this is the current 13 Pimlico Road location. maps.app.goo.gl/x4yNwN6djmuY...
My wife wrote a novel about living through conflict in Israel. Here is an extract that reflects the feelings she is reliving once again.
