Ever since I saw the cover to Panzerfaust Vol. 5 No. 1 from April 1970 features Gary Gygax's "Medieval Miniature's Rules" I KNEW the cover was a trace of a Joe Kubert war comic. AND I FINALLY FOUND IT! It's from the cover of "Our Army At War" #119 from 1952!!! VINDICATION!!!!

Painted my fancy inquisitor and I’m very pleased with it! It feels very 40k even with the Stormcast model as a base. The paint scheme looks like Black Legion, but that’s gonna happen with Blanche’s palette. Need to figure out the retinue that runs with this fella next… #inq28

Okay, I really love the power ax the praetor comes with, but I was convinced to go with a loadout closer to the sketch. Plus this means I don’t need to worry about subassembly painting.

I’m making a Thunder Warrior! Been thinking about this project for a while! The mask is made from some Genestealer Cult pieces.

Played a game of OPR Star Quest! It didn’t offer the depth I prefer, but it really impressed with everything else. Lightning fast, breezy rules, emergent features, convenient app. I wanna check out a narrative campaign next!

Instead of painting thin blue veins, I painted sloppy blue lines, then used dots of Wraithbone and Pallid Wytch Flesh to dot in around the blue lines. This technique was inspired by the Jack Kirby’s famous dots.

I think this is my favorite paint job to date! Turns out I love painting Orks!

Painted a Boy to lock in the color scheme. I really liked painting this Boy!

Another game of 3rd edition 40k! It was the Tomb Raid mission from the back of the Necron codex, which is fairly slanted in favor of the Necron, but it was a lot of fun!! Scarabs eating Landraiders will never cease being hilarious!

It’s a kitbash I made just for kicks, but then I realized it would make a good Deceiver proxy. It’s based on an enemy design from Forever Winter.

We played a 2000 pts game of 3rd edition 40k tonight! It was a hoot! But man, the close combat rules are presented in such a disorganized way it makes it very hard to reference! I think 1000-1500 pts with 4 turn missions is the sweet spot for 3rd edition.

Got some basing onto my Necropolis28 models! Really need to get these to the table soon!!

Got some black velvet for a photo backer. I need to get a decent camera, but I’m already happy with the velvet!

Absolutely thrilling game of 3rd Edition 40K! I was playing with the Chapter Approved list instead of the 3E codex. We are playing through each edition of the game and I want to see all the army changes. I lost because of 4 rallied Jakhals!

Thanks!! There was a bit of greenstuff used to fix up where the cape goes originally. There is some gnarly stuff covered by the pipes on his waist that I didn’t want to resculpt. Haha

Thanks! I do have some of those, but I am a bit worried about wear and tear over time.

And it’s done! Feeling satisfied with the extra effort I usually don’t put into mini painting, but I really liked the model and felt it deserved it!
