The blown glass bowls of Stephen Rolfe Powell at a Huntsville Museum of Art exhibit several years ago. It literally stopped me in my tracks and nearly brought tears to my eyes. Years later I wrote one of the pieces, Cherry LP Cyclone, into an SF story.

The City of Huntsville maintains an excellent online collection of historic imagery and maps. And there it is! A Foundry on the South West Corner of Gallatin and Holmes! (Nowadays Gallatin no longer intersects Holmes, it was cut off to the south and the location is now Spragins & Holmes.) 7/n

Well, what the hell? I've seen enough of these now while metal detecting that I recognized it as a cast iron pot lid. And awesomely enough this has much of the manufacturer's imprint intact! What I can read of it says "Dickson" and "Huntsville". (I live outside of Huntsville, AL.) 5/n
