Good morning all. Was out with friends yesterday. Lovely lunch in AirCon resto. Baked Camembert with charcuterie. Home before eclipse which I really enjoyed. The birds definitely thought it was bed time and the light was so beautiful. Was also a good moment to walk Tilly. The last eclipse for me.
Good morning all. Not sure what we’re doing today. Had a nice lunch out yesterday so may go and do a few trolleyfulls of this bad boy today. The wood store is ready for filling.
You know how everyone wants to sell you a compost bin- but no one sells the filters? I just made a dozen out of one big extractor fan filter. Materials needed, filter, tailors chalk and a pair of scissors.
Proper cooking now the heat has receded (temporarily). Saint Jacques in a sauce of leeks, mushtooms and crème fraiche. Don’t ask me why I didn’t add white wine - although I still needed to serve it with soup spoons. Crusty bread on the side.
Good morning all. Went out to lunch at a fab place on Tuesday. L’Ephemere at Englesqueville la Percee. C12 chateau which anyone who has driven the long road past the invasion beaches between Arromanches and Isigny will have passed. Excellent food. I had sea bass with a pistachio sauce - yum.
There are few jobs more satisfying than spatchcocking a chicken for supper, especially when politicians are so massively stupid.
Road testing #Brets # very nice. So much nicer than I expected. With red wine, olives, saucisson. Summer bliss.
Good morning Orcs. Happy RefUK got their asses kicked. Woke up hot with mozzy bites, ffs, nice juicy OH right next to me 🙄. Little blighter came back for seconds and I got him. Lunch by the sea today followed by weekend shopping. Washing line fully operational so yesterday’s rain was my fault.
Good morning all. Our visitors have gone back to UK. A very successful week. Lots of happy kids. Ended with a chance to get the jeep on the road for a spin. I’d forgotten how much fun it is. Have a great week all. X
This was my one photograph from yesterday and sums the day up. The original Pegasus Bridge (look it up) with a trimmed selection of international flags (they are building an extension).
Tilly has just discovered the fish finger sandwich. She’s noticed that papa has some left. Both her favourite foods in one mouthful.
Am feeling massively proud of home made coronation chicken. Served it with spiced microwave rice, with added sultanas.
Trialling the iced green tea. Six teabags plus lemon in a borosilicate glass jug, the lid of which is useful for suspending the teabags for later retrieval. I’ll add ice and water once it is properly cold.
I’d be obliged if the laundry gods would bear in mind my sheets today. There are few more satisfying sights.
Bonjour Orcs and welcome to summer. Grass is cut. Well, it was ‘cut’ already, but I’ve put the mower over to pick up the dried grass. Today we will tidy, put out the summer garden furniture. Barbecue will make a brief appearance before it rains this afternoon. Have a good day all. X
I’m feeling hard done by because it isn’t warm and sunny today (although this moment seems better). But with temperatures at only 14c I have to remind myself it is ONLY APRIL! Keep that clout a while yet. This weeek’s tulips are a darker pink.
Good morning all. Sat in bed drinking tea and sorting out my winter wood delivery. Need to sweep the wood store. Garden now cut - sorry insects it couldn’t wait another moment. Now I can do pot plants and prettying things up. Shopping and garden centre today, methinks. Have a great Friday, folks.
Hump day trivia. Enjoying a new bunch of tulips in the kitchen. Lunch is leftover curry with home made naan bread. Tilly enjoys me just bimbling around the kitchen, whilst she snoozes.
Bonjour CuD and Orcs. Another bright, still, grey morning here in Normandie. Must get going today as am off out for lunch tomorrow. I’ve cheered up my kitchen table with pretty colours this spring and am really enjoying some bright colours. Especially the tulips. Have a great day all. X
It was fabulous. Was afraid the shop might be smaller but no, the whole thing is truly impressive. Big shop, separate fromagerie (Isigny factories make great cheese) plus glacerie with seats, coffee, beer etc. big outdoor seating area with window for buying ice cream so you don’t have to go inside.
Went walking in the glorious sunshine. Wood anemones, dandelions, primroses, bluebells, blossom on the trees. This world is heartbreakingly beautiful.
The goodest of the good girls on worming day. Took the first one as though I’d given her a treat. Was a bit grumpy with the second (they don’t taste good) but didn’t even fuss when I held her firmly, popped the sad remnants in and made her swallow it. I love this dog so much.
