Would anyone like any of these issues of the Social History of Medicine? (I can post in UK, though would welcome something towards postage - or could get to you via mutuals)
What radicalised you? That sitting alone on a train means having no window
Yeah, he’d be the favourite and ONLY, seeing as he is the current and only First Minister 🙄
I can’t explain what I mean, but this taste is the most American thing I’ve tasted
In my morning haze I couldn’t understand this headline at first. How can you contact a referee’s body - talk to him? Another lovely example of the correct use of punctuation - it’s crucial!!
I love it when they’re secretly orange and they look like they’re painted by children
I had to get a new passport. I hate it 😭. Bring back the red one!! It’s also got way more pictures of my ugly mug than it used to - trolling me in all sorts of ways
I’ve set up a new Instagram @painly_speaking where I discuss what it’s like living with chronic illness - to raise awareness and share solidarity. Follow if interested and please share I’m currently doing an ‘elements’ theme…
Because I loathe myself, I clicked on the comments about a TV show on Facebook. But this response (see pic) to someone saying they weren’t watching made me cackle. Sums up the nonsense people spout Anyway, I’ve saved this for future use
I’ve been craving these biscuits for ages, such a nostalgic childhood treat! Can you smell it? My family had a battered The Snowman tin from these that held all the marbles. I don’t think we have it anymore. You could say we’ve…oh nevermind
Because of how the keyword follows work on here, I regularly see shit like this. It isn’t the worse by far, but it’s bloody irritating. Focus on where she lived not where she died! Urgh!
Extract from novel I started reading. “Don’t ask your girl to marry you at the olympics” made me hollar
Oh my goodness, Paddington the Musical is so incredible! And it’s pro-immigrant, pro-returning stolen artefacts, pro-chosen family, pro-ecological conservation. I cried 3 times. In fact many of us shed a tear. I think that’s the most I’ve heard an audience roar!
A poet’s experience of sudden illness & hospitalisation - I’d put it off as I knew it would be such a key research text for me, but i didn’t get anxious about noting & noticing everything. Unusual to have such a detailed 1st person account, as he’s entirely conscious. Wept extensively
I saw the film adaptation last year which I really enjoyed & was keen to see how it was written. Naturally there are differences, and the novel unsurprisingly offers more inferiority. The premise of the only surviving son of a group of friends after FWW is so rich to me
I knew this was a stylistically interesting novel, but didn’t know much more than that. I was compelled to read it quickly, and my sense of time was rightfully skewed & skewered - still!
Can’t believe I was so late to this, but wanted to read it before I saw the film. I don’t instinctively turn to historical novels but this is so beautifully & impressionistically done I am thrilled & inspired by its style. I sobbed my heart out.
Beautiful evocation on friendship and familial relationships with such a strong sense of place. I enjoyed the subtle gestures to the current political angst of the hotel & coastal region without hammering it. Stunning lyricism throughout
I tried to have a big break between the volumes but ultimately had to read on. I’m looking forward to the next ones (will let myself get volume 3 before Jan is up I’m sure)
Again, heard some titters about this, and while the premise wouldn’t usually appeal it sucked me in immediately. A compulsive read which had me thinking about memory & care in new ways
Didn’t know what to expect with this one, but heard titters it was good. It’s beautiful and evocative, and a surprising twist that throws the central love story into sharp relief
The vet visited (my brother) and extricated the patient. He diagnosed minimal injuries & some soft tissue bruising, & recommends a course of cuddle therapy to reduce PTSD issues
A sad turn of events, however. I have found a very hurt bear, I don’t know how long he has been stuck…
PUNCTUATION MATTERS ACTUALLY! Because this headline is misleading without commas:
I’ve just found this post-it in my diary, in between Feb and March. I have no recollection of what it means and it isn’t my handwriting or anyone’s I recognise 🤔😵 What does it mean!!!? Is it ‘not’ or ‘hot’?
