Firstly, it’s on 5.25" disk and most games for this short-lived machine were on cassette. A separate disk drive was also needed which sold in low numbers. Secondly, this isn't a standard retail version but a plain cover compilation disk, probably released as a dealer demo. 2/3

There are rare Mario games and then there are seriously rare Mario games, like this one released on the Japan-exclusive NEC PC-8001mkIISR - just added to my collection. Punch Ball Mario Bros is an obscure game anyway, so what makes this version extra special? 1/3

A Sharp My Computer TV C1 19C-C1F (Basically a 19" CRT with integrated Famicom) just sold for ¥1.6M ($10,140US). First released in Oct 1983 for ¥145,000, the Famicom circuitry connects to the TV internally via RGB, rather than the ordinary composite-video, producing a noticeably cleaner image.

3 different retail versions of Mario's Early Years CD-ROM Collection for PC/DOS, released in 1993 by Software Toolworks in the US. Of course, there are many other variants of these 'edutainment' titles, both compilations and individual games, including for the Super Nintendo.

Nintendo definitely had a vibe going in the 1950s with this design, mixing Art Deco type with the familiar gothic 'N'.

Nintendo's new Technology Development Center in Kyoto is due for completion March 2029 and will serve as a new R&D base for Nintendo software and hardware. Plus developer space. They'll be 9 floors above ground and 1 below ground. Oh, to be a fly on the wall when it's built!

A set of 7 vintage Nintendo vinyl figures from Japan, released in 1985. Thought to be unlicensed. Check out Mario and the OG Bowser! Believe it or not, these sold for 142,000 yen today, that’s $893USD. 🤯

I've just added the 5th (!) variant of Mario Teaches Typing to my collection. And that's not even including Mario Teaches Typing 2. Who knew there were so many! I have a soft spot for this title due to it being Charles Martinet's debut as Mario.

I thought it looked familiar! Memory unlocked!

Super Mario World 'Boo Boo Mario' (or Būbū Mario, ブーブーマリオ) was a 1993 Banpresto-licensed amusement arcade kiddie ride/video game. It's not often you see both the Mario and Yoshi figures from this machine to bid on at auction, just a little refurbishment needed!

While 10,000 copies of the gold cartridge version of Punch-Out!! were produced, only 100 were made of these. Here's a pic of my copy of the cartridge.

Wow. This rare trophy from 1987 has just sold at auction for 466,000YEN/2,922USD/2,191GBP. It was awarded to the top 100 players at the 2nd Family Computer Golf Tournament held on the Golf US Course of the Famicom Disk System, along with a gold cartridge version of Punch-Out!!

I picked up some cool new items at Nintendo Store KYOTO last week. The Super Mario × JR Kyushu campaign features specially wrapped, Mario-themed trains operating in Japan from 29 Nov 2025, to the end of June this year. The Nintendo Store is selling collectable magnets and stickers to mark the event.

Just added – Donkey Kong Super Game Pack, factory sealed box for the Coleco Adam. This is the second variant I have in the collection alongside the rare arcade retail box version.

30 days to go! New details have been revealed by Kyoto Marathon and sponsor Nintendo. Super Mario Bros. music will be played to liven up the start of the race! Runner's bags, the runner name board and photo spots will all feature the Super Mario Bros 40th logo. I really can't wait for this one!

A very nice, vintage Nintendo commemorative medal sold at auction today for over ¥81,000. That's about $531USD/£401GBP Probably dating from the late 1960s/early 70s, it features the N&B Block logo, Nintendo's short-lived line of toy bricks, intended to rival Lego. Very cool!
