Looks like the eclipse will be visible in Dungannon but not Omagh, Armagh or Cookstown... Maybe there is a god.
Hugh, here, from today's Blind Date column in The Guardian, demonstrating that the use of the Irish vernacular can still sometimes catch out the unwary traveller. Though I suppose Edie might be proud of her good crack. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
This paragraph from Alphaville's recent fake stock report in The Financial Times (www.ft.com/content/1344...) made me laugh out loud
FIFA announce new referee for USA V Belgium as original choice chokes on 27 Big Macs that he "accidentally inhaled" in an alley behind his hotel.
In a better world the only thing Hollywood makes are Josie and the Pussycats sequels and spin offs... ...Du Jour are the best worst fake band in cinema, bar none (and yes, Spinal Tap, I am looking at you)
Second half-filled Cornetto-a-like in a box from Sainsbury's who I think are taking shrinkflation too far... If it wasn't so hot I'd take them back, but ice cream cannot be wasted at times like these
Just turned over to Later... With Jools Holland and the White Stripes have let themselves go...
You know who else used to travel around running his country from a train?
Catching up on last night's Argentina Vs Algeria - oh Lionel, you little wizard - but I think Andros Townsend deserves a little round of applause for getting "It's a whirlwind start here in Kansas City" into commentary after two disallowed goals in the first ten minutes.
Al Carns' midlife crisis is accelerating, I see. Why couldn't he buy a silly red sports car like everyone else?
We have a Muntjac deer that has been visiting our garden. In the last few days the neighbour's small, mostly indoor, fluffy cat has started stalking it in our garden. I can't work out if I am impressed or appalled by this ambition.
Has the guy on the right just noticed a second incoming missile? "MISSED ME YOU BAS- oh... shi-"
Been living in this house for nearly 25 years, so surprising new arrivals in the garden are relatively rare... And large mammals are not on my list of expected visitors. Ladies and gentlemen (and everyone else) our first ever deer
I was going to make a lame joke about Lenin's cap, and then... I remembered this pic of a young Uncle Joe wearing the shit out of this cap. Priceless.
There goes the neighborhood! Average house prices in Kensington & Chelsea fall to just £1,225,000. At this rate, we'll all be able to afford a comfortable pied-à-terre in Kensington and/or Chelsea in as little 20 years giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...
When you hear he was born in Neath there's a temptation to think of miners' cottages and Labour heartlands, but Gnoll House (his mum's family seat) probably didn't have a tin bath in front of the fire 🤣
There is, perhaps, something of the over eager Spaniel (though probably not a King Charles) in this picture. You might be on to something...
I agree with this. I also think this is the best way to tackle Reform - head on and full steam. No compromise.
From a round up of stories about unusual (or, perhaps, not *that* unusual) unfortunate insertions in this month's @forteantimes.bsky.social ... ...this could be the start of a dark reimagining of that old woman who swallowed a fly story.
Yes, but I can't say if it was his small boat (the 74m superyacht Sherpa)... ...he has a much bigger one.
A more realistic portrayal of Trump meeting Arctic wildlife would also be more satisfying
