Up with the worms, and birds, had a nice wander. Dogs had a run about before it's too hot. Basically planning to nap through the day cos heat and lack of sleep. Morning.
Rewatching Widow's Bay already. It's definitely already in the comfort watch bracket.
Finally feeling cool. Nice breeze tongiht. Decent colour palette too.
1. My dogs, they're great (see attached). 2. Tinkering with a thing to see how it works. 3. Reading - comics, books, audiobooks (when cooking/cleaning). 4. Losing myself in a game - video or boardgames - it's that state of flow. 5. Being out in nature, walking or sitting, just being present.
In some cases it's heartbreaking how developers leave these things to rot. My favourite annoyance is the old Grosvener Hotel close to Temple Meads station in central Bristol. It's a beautiful building and I've just watched it crumble over the last 45 years.
Finally seen a few cinnabar caterpillars! Not as many as normal, hopefully these are just the ragwort shock troupers and the rest will be visible soon.
Yeah, the quorn ones are nice. I use the quorn pieces a lot too. My favourite veggie sausages are the plant pioneers sausages from Sainsburys. Cumberland, caramelised onions and chorizo style ones and they're properly good, work well in recipes (won't mush up in a stew etc). Also gluten free!
I heard they were full of mead and in many ways were the progenitor of this:
His tale is quite the yarn, Child Welfare Advocate, wanted Sexual Predator, faking his own death, fleeing to the UK, adopting the persona of Arthur Knight - An Anglo/Irish academic who came to the UK as a stowaway & made his living as a street kid selling books, he's an interesting sociopath. 2/
20°C now, bit of drizzle and a light breeze. It's lovely not living in a brick oven. Taken down all the shading. I'd ended up replacing the foil with reflective blackout material, cut to size and reinforced with duct tape on the edges. (Apologies about the pebble dash)
Early doors walk was lush, cooling and rejuvenating. Until a disembodied green alien head floated into view. Ginny is terrified of hot air balloons so legged it home. Once I'd dropped her off Billy and I went back out and resumed squirrel patrol.
Did see some moth love going on. I was thinking I'd not seen many Cinnabar moths this year but an abundance of ragwort, so I was pleased to see these two getting all Bow-Chicka-Wow-Wow. There will soon be some yellow and black striped caterpillars munching the ragwort.
Morning. Day whatever of Oh It's Bastard Hot. Took dogs for a 5am walk up to cemetery as we've only been to the park this week. Think they appreciated the change. No breeze and utterly muggy so 23°C felt much warmer. But coolness soon come. Just a few more days till it's normal.
It's 10pm and it's still 30°C in my back garden. There is at least a nice breeze now but I'm basically broken after 38°C outside 28.5°C inside between 4pm and 7pm. I feel awful, ruined, rubbish. Yes yes. AC. Sure. Great.
Wall Crab! Wall Crab! It's a Wall Crab! Decapod crustaceans Make interiors feel less drab!
Cuties! I've got two cats - Edgar Allan Paws (void cat) and Casper Meowser (chunky tabby), and two rescue dogs - Billy (Large floofy chaos mongrel) and Ginny (terrier-cross with a lot going on in the mix)
Day 5 of the European Heat Hell then. This is shit. I'm very tired and very very grumpy. Finding it very hard to think coherently. Stressed about the dogs overheating, it's 27°C in the house despite having had all the windows/back door open all night.
Day 3 of horrible weather above 30°C for me. Thanks I hate it. A high of 34°C and humidity at 81% which means my evaporative cooler isn't going to work much. Still got quite a blow to it so all good.
You make one joke about Princess Diana... House Teenager presented me with this commemorative plate for Father's Day. I also got an Arbor Ales selection box and pint glass, which is more in keeping with my beliefs.
[David Attenborough Voice] And here we see a rarely witnessed part in the Star Nosed Mole lifecycle, the Chrysalid. This single "seed mole" might spawn 6 or 7 molelets.
