I'm not celebrating the 4th this year but I am trying to be more positive so I am proud that I live in a country where my union stands in solidarity with other unions and where immigrants can teach me a little part of their language. If the USA has any positives, it's the people who live here.

I have had multiple dermatologists blame my cystic acne on my hormones even though I've had it since before transition I had a dermatologist walk into the room, look at my chart, and say "there's nothing I can do for you unless you stop taking testosterone." Here's my before and after btw

Here in Kentucky, one of the orgs doing the most direct support for trans people is Kentucky Health Justice Network and they are fundraising right now! They provide money for hormones, grants for surgery, gender affirming items, and insurance navigation. fund.nnaf.org/give/767187/

My last point of the year of the year on #tdor: I wish I could do this over and over and over again. I could not imagine being in a tomb with my deadname on it and buried in a dress. I wish there was justice in the world.

Also for TDOR I want to remember Henry Berg-Brousseau, a young man I got to work with at the Fairness Campaign. He testified against a bathroom ban in 2015, when he was still in high school. He was forced to use the wrong bathroom and bullied because of it.

Trying to piece together Arty and Hope and Blair's lives to give them a decent memorial really took a toll on me. My girlfriend wrote a poem about the experience that really captures my feelings. #tdor

We also lost a sister from Louisville this year. I don't have as much information on her, especially beyond what is already online. She died when she was hit by a car on her bike at a neighborhood intersection.

Kentucky lost a sister from Mayfield (western KY) this year. Hope Youngblood was an advocate for the LGBTQ community and a filmmaker who moved to LA slightly before her death to pursue her dreams of filmmaking. #tdor

This year we lost one of our siblings from Lexington. Arty Gibson was a young trans man from Lexington. He liked Pokemon and anime and was loved by his community. He and his financee Juli moved to Portland shortly before he took his life in June. #tdor

A small memorial for Arty made by his former GSA. There is a painting by a tattoo artist who tattooed him and pictures of him in a collage. There are (fake) candles and flowers.

Mason Kalinsky (me): We're not forcing it on anyone. We gathered together to remember a 23 year old from Lexington who took their own life. We invited people who knew him and grew up with him to share stories about his life because he didn't have a memorial service in Lexington.

Sean Fowler: No one is attacking transgender people, we just don't agree with the thought that someone can transform from a man to a woman and vice versa. No one has the right to force their beliefs on someone else.

Mason Kalinsky: Hi Sean. Actually that isn't true. Most of the people on this list we remembered this year got murdered for being trans. That very much is attacking trans people.

Mason Kalinsky: Hey Wes. Great question. We had this gathering to remember all the people who were murdered or killed themselves for being trans, including one trans 23 year old from Lexington. We invited his teachers and friends to speak because he didn't have a funeral because his parents didn't accept him

Went to the 50th anniversary midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. I'm very happy that this year I got to dress as Rocky. I feel more comfortable in my body than I ever have before. Also I'm proud to report that one thing has not changed in my transition: hoes still don't get cold.
