Sophy Romvari has made a miraculous film with Blue Heron, it takes the trope of the child observer and does something really unique and incredibly moving with it. Gorgeous cinematography too, not just the Vancouver Island setting but the internal house scenes, wowza
Finally watched Sentimental Value and it’s an extraordinary film (even if Trier owes just a teensy bit to Almodóvar here) and my fave scene is the one with Renate Reinsve and the vase, iykyk. She and Stellan Skarsgård are both so damn good in it
I loved Sam Neill in every movie he was ever in but to see him at full female gaze hotness you must watch him in Gillian Anderson’s My Brilliant Career. Wowza
Responding to the current discourse with a fave sequence from Hothead Paisan, Chicken’s “Bwast ‘em!” lives in my head rent free
Had to take a long walk to cool down after the Cabo Verde game haha but the Blue Sharks played so valiantly this World Cup and I hope that everyone has a chance to visit those beautiful islands some day
Subbing for Neon Buffalo on @kalxberkeley.bsky.social Sunday night and bringing midsummer vibes! Please tune in!
Who’s actually been to Cabo Verde? THIS WOMAN! Um thanks to my brother being stationed there in the Peace Corps two decades ago but still

Not really a Fincher (or Michael Douglas) fan but completely blown away by The Game: The player, the action, the game itself. And pretty good consistency with the SF geography! Like they didn’t have to show the House of Shields across from the Palace but they did

The Love That Remains is both gorgeous and darkly hilarious and I loved the Icelandic seasons and the deadpan kids and the art and the very good dog
