Bob Dylan turns 85 today. He’s still performing, following his muse, confounding expectations and answering to no one. I expect he’ll die with his boots on. I’ll see him perform for a 12th time, fittingly, on July Fourth.
Fair winds and following seas to Stephen Colbert, a brilliant comedian and a much-needed voice of reason for the last 10-plus years. I also mourn the franchise created by David Letterman and the decline of late-night TV in general.

Like many journalists of my vintage, “All the President’s Men” (the book and the film) partly inspired my career choice. Though I think “The Sting” is Robert Redford’s best performance. RIP to a legend.
