There were a group of young fans absolutely losing their minds at Broken Social Scene last night, who likely wouldn't have been alive when the band launched. One of them was invited on stage when Kevin Drew noticed her handmade t shirt. She said they were her favourite band. It was beautiful.

America produces the best hands, hands down, just the greatest hands there are
Fresh, wild chinook salmon marinated in maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, garlic, parsley, red chili, mustard and salt & pepper. Grilled on a cedar plank to impart smokey, sweet wood flavours. Insanely good. So tender, juicy and flavourful. Perhaps the best fish I've cooked?
Still the best crew gift I ever received. Hand blown glass bottle filled with real wine (likely vinegar by now) Just gorgeously crafted.
America, your current best alternative band is Wednesday and I wanted to let you all know that they just played an incredible show here in Vancouver and you should all be proud.

That sounds amazing... I wonder which hotel. My food highlight down there was probably a lovely venison dish I had between Pukaki and Queenstown. Also, worth mentioning, a genuinely pretty great smoked brisket (+cheese & jalapeno) pie.
At Lake Pukaki in NZ I found the absolute ideal way to enjoy a nerdy beer. (in this case a spontaneous fermentation barrel aged ale with pinos gris)
Wife's away and she doesn't like mushrooms or blue cheese (or steak) so as a treat here's what I made myself for dinner.
