So I approached via Freeman and turned right on Broadway east of the barrier. I was rewarded with the sight of about 7 javelinas crossing the road. I reached for my phone to get pics - but I’d left it at home! Ack! And now I was low on gas! So I drove home & walked the neighborhood instead.
More from Saturday, pre-sunset, on Mica View Trail. I skipped the gym Sunday to make another sunset run out to the Park. But I was running late, in part because there is a short stretch of Broadway at Freeman Rd that is blocked off due to recent storm damage.
Saturday before sunset on Mica View Trail. Portrait mode only. This was me hiking almost 1.6 miles round trip for the first time since my surgery in May.
Fifth and Wilmot, late Friday afternoon. You may be glad to hear that Kito is doing a little better, day by day. He is no longer falling down, can go outside on his own, and with the help of his anti-nausea medicine he is eating again (mostly just chicken, but still).
Monday afternoon my car wouldn’t start, so I borrowed John’s 2005 Prius. Tuesday morning I called AAA. Their driver arrived quickly and gave me a jump. I drove to the dealership and waited while they installed a new battery. $200+. 1/2
Kito had a very rough day. I awoke Fri AM to the sound of him vomiting 🤮 repeatedly, despite not having eaten in about 8 hours. He was falling down, unsteady on his rear legs and weaker than usual, refusing to go outside or eat or drink. Later John called me at work to say he drank some water. 1/3
The rail for my shower door is 21-inches off the floor and there’s not a lot of room to swing a leg over. Today I stepped into the tub - no problem, no pain. Hooray! (I’ve now lost 142.4 pounds, btw, since 4/10/2025. Just another 25.4 pounds to my goal!) 2/2
This may not mean much to anyone else, but I had another knee replacement post op milestone today. One of my goals was to get back into my tub/shower instead of using John’s regular shower. 1/2
Some of this year’s fireworks as seen in front of my house. They’re amateur ones, set off at random times and places. I almost never go to A Mountain where the official Tucson fireworks have been shot from for the past 40+ years. (Next year they’re switching to drones.) 1/2
By the time I got to my knee exercises at home I was on a 2nd page in my workout journal and it was almost midnight. I’m a little sore now but no regrets.
Busy Thursday. PT, a longish day at work, shopping, dinner, and my 2nd trip to the gym post-op. I was over-optimistic in what I could get done, but I did 10 minutes again on a bike, used 4 weight machines, and did a 20 minute routine in the pool. 1/2
Wednesday, 6 weeks after surgery, I reactivated my gym membership and resumed my training sessions. I hope to get back on track fairly quickly. I also did 10 minutes on this bike (I’ve been doing 6 minutes in rehab). 1/2
I weighed in today at 175.3. 174.9 pounds will be 140 pounds down since 4/20/25. That will equal or exceed the most weight I’ve ever lost, so long ago that I don’t have an exact record. I’m shooting for 150 pounds, which seems reasonable for a 69 yo woman with extra skin from when I weighed more.
Today was my 6-week post op follow-up with the surgeon and it’s all good news. Today’s x-rays looked great, my leg is healing very well, pain is a little less each day, I’m walking well, and I’m cleared to return to return to the gym and use the pool there as well as the machines. 1/2
Apple Butt and Kito on the mooch. It’s almost impossible to catch them both in the same shot and not in constant motion.
Happy Anniversary to Apple Butt, who became a Blocher a year ago today.
