Retired, husband, father, dog walker, writer, photographer, pastoral care volunteer, nam vet... Just ask...
this was at the time of my life where everything I did was a statement against something. I bought those sneakers at K-mart for $7.97 and what I saved by buying less expensive clothes I spent on cheap bottles of beer.
My journals have been stacking up since the 80s. They're mostly in the basement acquiring that damp musty smell that basements offer. Our house was built in 1915, & I'm assuming this is so. As I said in my journal, I went to the Doctor yesterday. I forgot to ask her if I smelled old. Maybe next time
I'm not a fan of sleeves... they're just another form of litter. My friend Tom once grabbed an empty ceramic cup off the table when we shared an apartment in the 70s and said, Jesus Christ, it's still hot! And I said, the quick and the dead. (do you know where that phrase is from?)
does money really matter in the universe. what's it worth to you, don't spend it all in one place. time is money, especially in supermarkets. when I was a paperboy in the 60s , I used to collect coins. I gave the collection to a friend when I stopped delivering papers. I found out, he spent it all.
I often think my positions are unilateral, but where would I be without the blossom and the fruit
no one should care about this, except for me and a handful of people who stop by. and of course, the beasts of the kingdom too. it's Sunday and if you care to venture to a church you may hear about rocking the boat and your lack of faith. these days it seems it's hard to have faith. here's some.
do you choreograph your poems. I sometimes do, but I never edit. I just stockpile them for the incinerator. and like a few bad tattoos that I regret (especially the dragon on my ass) they too will disintegrate in gehenna. the way of death has changed immensely since I was a child. a lot less pomp.
when I first got out of the Army, my brother Al used to call me up and ask, do you want to go out and shoot some pictures. he used to say, shoot, shoot, shoot, film is cheap. he bought film in bulk.he also used to say, read, read, read. great activities to develop into a decent person. click & flip
Pema Chodron is 90 years old. I've been enjoying her books for about twenty-five years. she makes me feel at ease. today I read an article about an 84 year old man from OK, who's been writing poems from his kitchen table & put out a book with 55 poems. He goes by the name of Wilson. he was my prompt
why should I be disturbed that the day old news hasn't been delivered & what about the good news from the church I won't be attending this morning, didn't Jesus once say, I'm not here to destroy the old, I'm here for you to look at the world with a fresh pair of eyes. with abundance. mt.14:13-21
Bill was coming back from the store with his shopping tote. I stopped to say hello and he asked, where are you going? I said, first Tim's and then Paula's. (donuts) He asked, do you need some company? I said sure, hop in. I found out he met his wife at Bingo at St.Teresa's. Same church I got married
