They let me get a little spicy on main over *that* NYT op-ed. So without further ado…a few cents on David Ellison’s plea to the American people to let him win this round of Monopoly. Full story at the link 👇
Sold out opening night for MOMA’s Silent Movie Week. It was quite remarkable to revisit WAY DOWN EAST with an orchestra. What a time, with more to come: www.moma.org/calendar/fil...
If you’re looking for something to do Saturday night, I will be talking with legendary director Gregory Nava after the screening of EL NORTE at MOMA. See you there! Please share if you can, would love to see some friends in the audience. www.moma.org/calendar/eve...
Wrote about the blue and pink (and red) worlds of Nicolas Winding Refn ahead of HER PRIVATE HELL: www.avclub.com/primer-nicol...
Spoke to an IMAX projectionist and their VP of post-production about the fanfare surrounding the IMAX 70mm release of THE ODYSSEY. Fun story to put together. Read it below. 👇
Had a great time moderating the Q&A after AMERICAN PACHUCO with director David Alvarado, Lou Diamond Phillips, and the legend himself, Luis Valdez. The movie is playing now at @filmforumnyc.bsky.social!
What terrible news to wake up to. Sam Neill was always such a thoughtful performer even if a movie wasn’t great or his co-stars were dinosaur puppets. Just a huge talent who always brought his best to the screen. What a loss.
Elaine May at @filmlinc.bsky.social. The new restoration of MIKEY AND NICKY from @muscledistribution.bsky.social plays through the week!
Couldn’t make it to the parade, but I did get this sticker for early voting. Go vote 🧡💙
Still recovering from the weekend. Grateful for my country, the city of New York. 💙🧡
Happy Bleak Week, everyone 🖤 I was lucky enough to catch the MIRACLE MILE Q&A last night at @paristheaternyc.bsky.social with Anthony Edwards and Mare Winningham in conversation. There’s plenty more where that came from as Bleak Week continues. @amcinematheque.bsky.social
Thanks to a number of friends for coming out for a great movie and the photos. ❤️ And shout out to @marshallshaffer.bsky.social for the book MAKING THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES.
Had a grand time at the @paristheaternyc.bsky.social talking with Kenneth Lonergan about one of his favorite films, THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES, as part of the @nyfcc.bsky.social series.
The theater is from the 1920s, later used for radio broadcasts in the 1930s before its conversion to a TV studio in the 1950s for productions like The Jackie Gleason Show and of course, The Ed Sullivan Show, which ran until the early 70s. I’m hoping it survives for future audiences.
Had the luck to score a ticket to see The Late Show with Stephen Colbert back in February, and I was just as excited to see The Ed Sullivan Theater up close—it’s such a part of TV history!
If you’re in NYC and don’t yet have Memorial Day weekend plans, stop by the Paris on Sunday the 24th for an 80th anniversary screening of THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES with Kenneth Lonergan and me as part of the @nyfcc.bsky.social series. 🎟️: www.paristheaternyc.com/event/nyfcc-...
I want to relax for the last few hours of Sunday, but I’ve been so productive today around the house, feels like I should keep going. But I don’t think she’ll mind if I just sit next to her on the couch for the rest of the day.
Sharing from the Museum of the Moving Image Instagram account, but it was so lovely to talk with Isabel Sandoval and her team about their new film, MOONGLOW, on the last night of First Look 2026.
It was an honor to talk with Barbara Kopple, Hart Perry, Mirra Bank, and Tom Hurwitz about their experiences of working on HARLAN COUNTY, USA. The new 4K restoration is playing this week at @ifccenter.bsky.social.
Still recovering from my first @bosunderground.bsky.social as a features programmer, but already excited for round two. 💜
Last night at @paristheaternyc.bsky.social, star Matthew Modine, screenwriters Barry Strugatz and Mark R. Burns joined @nyfcc.bsky.social member Keith Uhlich in conversation after the new 4K restoration screening of Jonathan Demme’s MARRIED TO THE MOB from @vinsyn.bsky.social.
Bob Odenkirk and writer Derek Kolstad kicked off @bosunderground.bsky.social opening night with a screening of their new film NORMAL.
Last full day in Austin. Hope to see a few more friends before it ends!
