Bravi to all at @tapestryopera.bsky.social for an intense performance of 10 Days in a Madhouse by Rene Orth and Hannah Moscovitch. I bet it made a great birthday for the composer, as did the singing of Happy Birthday during curtain calls.
Tosca at West Bay Opera coming up soon! Our wonderful cast is headed by Julia Behbudov, Bob Balonek, and Xavier Prado. José Maria Condemi directs and José Luis Moscovich conducts. Our chorus part is small but gorgeous. Come see us May 22, 24, 30 & 31 at the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto.
Who says big bands are dead? Bruce Springsteen had 19 musicians on stage last night for a powerful show. This was our first time at Chase Center and the sound was by far the best I’ve ever heard in an arena. Even from our nosebleed seats!
Congratulations to Chicago Opera Theater on a fabulous performance of Kurt Weill’s Der Silbersee. I’ve been waiting 48 years for this, ever since playing and recording the suite with my college orchestra.
We're two weeks away from opening our West Bay Opera production of Saint-Saëns' Samson et Dalila in Palo Alto. We have a fabulous cast, wonderful dancers, and a juicy chorus part. This is a great opera that isn't done often - don't miss it! Tickets are available at www.wbopera.org/tickets-page...
In honor of Iga Świątek’s Wimbledon singles championship, I made pasta with strawberries for dinner. With peak season farmer’s market strawberries, this was a grand slam. Thinking also of tennis fan @vancegilbert.com and wishing him the best.
Hey, I finally saw I Confess on the big screen. So much better than seeing it on my iPad. I thought @3gjane.bsky.social would like to know. 🙂
Esa-Pekka Salonen’s final concert as San Francisco Symphony music director was a fabulous performance of Mahler 2 with Sasha Cooke and Heidi Stober as soloists. The ovation afterwards wouldn’t stop until Salonen spoke a few words to the audience.
We open Otello at West Bay Opera this Friday! It's an amazing opera and we have a wonderful cast for it. There's nothing like seeing a dramatic Verdi opera in an intimate 400-seat house. Best availability is for the Friday and Saturday shows. Tickets here: www.wbopera.org/tickets-page...
Last night we had a wonderful stumble-through for La sonnambula, which is our first time hearing the principals. They are fantastic! Some we've sung with before, others are new to the company. This should be a wonderful show so get your tickets soon.
Two weeks until our Stanford Symphonic Chorus concerts with Peninsula Symphony! Hanson's Sea Symphony has been on my bucket list; I attended the premiere at Interlochen. Copland's Canticle of Freedom was written for the dedication of MIT's Kresge Auditorium. Tickets at www.stanfordlivetickets.org.

We've started staging rehearsals for Madama Butterfly at West Bay Opera and it's going to be great. Toni Marie Palmertree will be an amazing Butterfly, and the rest of the cast is also very fine. Tickets are available now: www.wbopera.org/tickets-page...
