Had a lovely and cheersful tasting event a few days ago, with wines from 🇦🇹, 🇫🇷, 🇬🇪, 🇭🇺, 🇺🇦 and 🇺🇸. Missing 🇩🇪. Now you may guess whowe all these hands are...;-)
On 4th of July 80 years ago, over 40 Jews were killed in a pogrom in #Kielce. Yesterday, the City‘s Karski Society organised a commemoration event, which I had to miss: jankarski.org.pl/80-rocznica-... But it was good to meet them a few days before.

Last attendance at official #Holocaust commemoration event during my tenure: 86 years ago, 1st prisoner transport arrived in #Auschwitz from Tarnów. @auschwitzmemorial.bsky.social never left me since I first came as a student in the early 1990ies, and it never will. Thx to 🇺🇦CG Kraków for 2 pics.
I will miss these afternoons on our balcony with a good book on Poland and some good regional beer...

In the reconstructed trenches at Fort X, I was unexpectedly pointed to my home town 😊.
Second, went to the Festiwal Łączy nas Historia at Forts X and XI of the fortress ring around #Przemyśl and got a lovely and lively guided tour through the museum recently opened in the latter, thanks to Pan Artur! Thanks @cullhajmajlinda.bsky.social for one pic.

Had a quite active weekend - among other things joining the #Kraków March of Equality together with my wife @cullhajmajlinda.bsky.social and taking the opportunity for a stroll to the #Wawel during that ❤️ly ☀️ny Saturday.
Cracovian classical choir music keeps captivating me. Started with best-ever Mozart‘s Requiem in a Nowa Hutan church in November 1988 - and I had to return to #Kraków and even stay 3 years before finally hearing Haydn‘s Die Schöpfung today: standing ovation well deserved by AMKP musicians!
A free day means a day of reading. Today: Csaky‘s attempt at a framework of theory of Austrian history in a Central European - and therefore centrally European - sense. Some Polish beer goes well with it.
Went on to #Rajbrot, which has an interesting name, maybe meaning rye bread, maybe paradise ford. It boasts another wooden church, circled by beautiful, if whithered stone statues of Saints Paul, Peter and one unknown to me.
Learnt that St. Simon was from here, and some other Catholic celebrities, and that the village is exactly 700 years old.
Possibly our last Easter in #Kraków… went to see Lipnica Murowana with its wooden St. Leonard‘s as well as St. Simon‘s and St. Andrew‘s churches.

First day on the balcony this year, birds already chirping to welcome #Spring
