I think in my time in Kingston, nothing has pissed people off more than how the province has messed up the Wolfe Island Ferry. New and expensive boatsso unreliable that if you want to get back to the mainland you should check the Mayor's FB page for who has volunteered to run a boat back.
Man this picture. Both of these people really genuinely wanted to make Canada a climate leader. And since they were both Minister of The Environment and Climate Change in a Majority Government, they probably both thought they would. But instead, a brave face for the sad little fist bump.
Folx, i ran this in Victoria yesterday. I didn't think i would add a new city to my top 3 Cdn runs, but I was wrong. 12KM, begins and ends with the eagles and deer in Beacon Hill Park, mostly along ocean where Orcas could be spotted. KM 9 is mostly running a pier where you are doused in ocean spray!
Why are Conservatives in Toronto perpetually obsessed with ruining the waterfront? What drives this passion? Miller came out of nowhere to become Mayor when he recognized this was so obviously a bad idea once upon a time. It improves life a slightly for the 0.02% of population that fly business.
Scottie locks up an All-NBA nod and sends Raps to playoffs with a few good games today and over the weekend orrrrrrr a few more 4th Q fades and out of play in before we know it. Either seems plausible. Raps on 3.
Im pretty surprised by this. The Carney ppl have been pretty savvy. There's probably more defections coming and either way they're definitely getting a majority without an election; so I'm not sure why you would prove the eternal critique that the only Liberal value that matters is power.
Students in my class independently selected a scene from Mean Girls to perform. I congratulated them on selecting the most influential performance text of the 21st Century.
This is a big IF, but if these 5 players play hard, it's inconceivable they could lose a game of basketball to any other collection of humans.
Went for a run along Lake Ontario this morning and I regret to inform you that the US physically transformed overnight into Mordor.
There is such a massive hole opening up on the Canadian left. If Avi is elected the next NDP leader, and there are 3-4 years to plan, people are gonna be so fed up with the results these guys produce by then and it's gonna be a competitive 3-way election.
This slide only contains one of the highlights the Canadian Arts Coalition cites, but does anyone else not feel like GREAT NEWS CELEBRATE NO NEW CUTS is something only we would do? ($6 mill over 3 years does not cover inflation on a $325M annual budget so actually it is a cut.)
NYT has a helpful graphic for Americans on their homepage to identify which para-military or military org is on your city's streets. Man, I'm still mad about Hilary's emails.
There aren't a ton of things i would schedule over Game 1 of the Jays in the World Series, but a new Roland Schimmelpfennig something that is an experiment with AI is actually not missable in my pantheon. (@ Crow's, directed by Brendan Healy as part of U of T Drama 'Who's Afraid of AI' conference).
We were walking down the street and we had no idea about this AGNES / FOLDA co-branding outside the gallery for KINNOMICS by Iman Datoo. As you can see, this pleased us.
We've added a new show/experience to the final day of FOLDA on June 7. Excited to have Remixed by Trophy at The Isabel all day long. A hopeful piece for an edition of the festival that keeps coming back to hope. mailchi.mp/spiderwebsho...
When then sold out Wrecking Ball ended - revived a decade after it ran for a decade - they didn't know how to end it, and so for a brief moment everyone just chanted "Wrecking Ball! Wrecking Ball!". I was happy.
6 year anniversary of the shot. True story, after watching almost every moment of that season, my internet froze for 2 minutes and when it came on again i had missed this play and celebration entirely. #Raptors
For the last month, the team at FOLDA has been very busy throwing out our programming for The Start Up @ FOLDA and replacing it with something that can meet the moment for art and artists in Canada. The result is ART FOR BETTER TIMES: mailchi.mp/spiderwebsho...
I don't think this framing Business for the Arts is using is helpful or accurate. This notion that public funds for culture is a "dependency" while private funds are a "sustainable philanthropic model" ignores a few key details: 1 - Good luck doing anything controversial.
It's the flag of Lithuania, but it also, potentially, gets you to 172. #elxn45
From the Liberal platform: This is meh - they could increase funding to CCA, but less than the rate of inflation (which would be a cut) and still say they kept the promise. A far cry from Trudeau's call to double the Canada Council. #cdnpoli
FESTIVAL LAUNCH: FOLDA 8: Seeds of Resistance and Solidarity. Kingston Ontario June 4 -7, 2025. Including Marcel Stewart, Lisa Karen Cox, Cole Lewis, Patrick Blenkarn, PeerLess Productions, Deaf Spirit Theatre and Iman Datoo. Full deets @ folda.ca
Pierre Pollievre is in my small city tonight. He is doing an event with our Mayor who is the CPC candidate. Coming here during this short campaign means they think they have a shot. Buttttt let us review the results of the provincial election here several weeks ago. Seems like a lot to make up. #ygk
It seems unbelievable how quickly the wheels have fallen off the most powerful government on earth.
One reason i think Conservatives will lose the upcoming election is they can't pivot to the new reality fast enough. Patterson is the current Mayor and a brand that wins elections by a lot here. Convoy/Trump stuff makes PP a tough sell in K Town. But they can't see it. PP the vanquisher only!
welp. university professoring is going to require some new methodologies.
