Photography 📸 Graphic Design 📰 Trains 🚊 Transit 🚌 My own thoughts and feelings, comments and questions 🌲 Portland, OR
In fact, there are SO MANY people out today in downtown, Nob Hill, Goose Hollow, and the Pearl (like at Jamison Square for a free concert).
And Hypnos Coffee will open a second location at NW 21st and Johnson, next to Russo Lee gallery.
Bossa will open a Brasilian cafe by day, cocktail bar by night at NW 21st and Everett.
Latte Stone Cafe will open a Chamoru cafe on NW Westover, kinda behind Urban Outfitters and neighbors with Fish & Rice.
Putting the “park” in Providence Park! I love seeing our publicly owned stadiums open up for more events and uses. More please!
PPR doesn’t even properly use this beautiful amphitheater outside of like two events a year. So many underutilized public venues! So many gems!
So the Ritz gets to block half the street and crosswalks whenever they want because they’re the Ritz, huh? @pbotinfo.bsky.social
The city is reinstalling the historic lampposts around the Washington Park Reservoir after they were restored, the most progress I’ve seen on the long-delayed project in months. But now the reflecting pool is empty for other repairs. One step forward, two steps back. Can’t wait for it to be open!
I noticed a new pub opened across from Providence Park! Saunter In Pub takes the places of the long vacant space formerly occupied by Cafe Nizza. Nice to have a new addition to the neighborhood and another pre/post match spot.
Central Library has “I Voted” stickers next to their ballot drop box. Get those ballots in!
The schedule is light and the graphic design needs work. Shuttles operate Fridays and Saturdays June-Aug. But for its first year, I think it might be a good way to test 1) demand from east Portland residents who want to reach the park and 2) how many people want to travel within the park.
Portland Parks is piloting a free shuttle this summer to move people to, from, and within Forest Park. Lines: -East Portland CC > Lower Macleay -Parkrose TC > Lower Macleay -Charles Jordan CC > Washington Park (via Germantown/Skyline) -Inner-park loop (via Zoo, Pittock, Upper and Lower Macleay)
Summer’s about here so that means it’s once again time for @trimet.org and @pbotinfo.bsky.social to collab on making popular Portland events nearly impossible to navigate to/from on transit. Today at the St. Johns Bizarre ⬇️
I won a piece of a Type 1 train. It’s my own little door button 🥹 @trimet.org
Did anyone get notified about their Portland E-Bike Rebate status yesterday?
Los Bros just opened up on NW 23rd Pl and Burnside and they’re open late! ‘Till 11pm on weeknights and ‘till 2am Friday and Saturday. The tacos were delicious and I’m sure they’ll taste even better at 1am
Today @trimet.org will relocate one of downtown’s busiest bus stops indefinitely from a sheltered stop on SW Alder and 6th to a “lamp post” on SW Yamhill next to Pioneer Courthouse Square during construction on the James Beard Public Market. Line 15 will also have to detour its eastbound route.
I took these pics during a vigil for RBG after her death in Sept. 2020 so people were adding lace and flowers to the elk, which made it both appear more dignified and unsettling.
Looks like there was minimal impact to Streetcar ridership, too. I wonder how many A/B riders normally cross the bridge and travel through the Central Eastside as opposed to how much of that ridership is centered on the interlined west side portion as additional NS frequency.
Holy shit I somehow snagged a ticket to Portland’s most exclusive event next week
