So pleased to find the Denis Gifford non-fiction book Space Aces for $4 in Heroes Comics today. That place is a gem. Also pictured with companion book Super Duper Supermen. Like my whole collection, it’s a weirdo cheapo curio that brings me joy.
Bookcase assembly update: all 10 completed and ready to be attached to the walls. Extra shelves already deployed. New recliner chair ready with cushions and a quilt. All flood damage addressed. All walls painted. Soon it will be the time of THE UNPACKING. This winter I will be taking no calls.
I’m in the process of building 10 Billy bookcases from Ikea (8/10 done) and continue to marvel at the efficiency of the whole thing. This is the sum total of the non-recyclable material from one bookcase’s packaging.
I’m reading a JSA comic and I will always love that the Spectre is the literal wrath of God.
I see the Americans are simultaneously playing soccer and Where’s Waldo? (That’s Where’s Wally for any soon-to-be-deported fans.)
I wish the BBC would just report the news instead of turning it into a video game presented by people dressed for a catwalk.
This week I had occasion to read a recent issue of @2000ad.bsky.social and this Rogue Trooper story by @gdwessel.bsky.social and Simon Coleby knocked my socks off. Superb.
Awesome time today at TCAF! Which continues all day Sunday. @torontocomics.bsky.social
NAPALM DEATH I’ve had such a nice time. Now I’m at late-night karaoke.
And offered a number of viable solutions. (By Wagner/Grant/Gibson, but probably not Ferrer by this point)
True story: server stepped up to sing karaoke mid-transaction so we’ve suspended payment to sing ABBA together. Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight). Awesome!
Flood repair update: back in business with the boxes and the Billys!
Watermelon 7-Up is most refreshing after an evening of power washing random things on my property. I’m such a dad.
I enjoy a Dollarama knockoff product and Java Crunch seems new to me. I’d probably get a Coffee Crisp though.
Painting a bathroom and listening to Kylie. This is how I take a break from Horribly Serious Adulting.
