Still waiting for the Great Leap Forward. Music is my main love. Well music, food, the dog, photography, whisky….did I mention food?
Was it a party? Was it a disco? He definitely burned down the house David Byrne was a joyous and uplifting experience last night.
Wandering through the back streets of Edinburgh on a warm summer’s evening. This is lovely. I could live here.
Late train home. V tired but lovely day on the Southbank. Plus I got to meet @davidwilloughby.bsky.social and @muzicgeezer.bsky.social , though no one I spoke to turned out to be @birmingham81.bsky.social !
In true awkward dog style she has abandoned the cool mats and fans and is lying down in the hottest part of the garden….
Perfect companions for relaxing into the evening…this book about the summer of 1976 by @johnelwilliams.bsky.social is a really good read, seek it out from your local Indy bookseller. The CD compilation is another fantastic set out together by @rockingbob.bsky.social on @acerecords.bsky.social
Using all my fingers and toes I can work out that it’s been 36 years since I last saw the Pixies, at Reading Festival. Cracking night tonight.
This is a bit misleading as it’s on the patio so there is a lot of reflected heat, and I don’t know how accurate these little cheap digital devices are, but this is a good indicator of the ‘feels like’ temperature. I couldn’t put my bare foot down on the slabs so keep those dogs indoors!
Looking forward to relaxing later with this Musical Youth compilation from @needlemythology.bsky.social curated by the mighty @petepaphides.bsky.social …seems like a lifetime since I heard you on 6music talking about this one!
“There never was a golden age..”. 1974 Doctor Who story ‘Invasion of the dinosaurs’. The BBC overreached itself with the special effects, but the story is first rate*. A good underlying meditation on the danger of nostalgia. *Even the padding in episode five with a helicopter chase…
I can’t see that nice moon right now but here’s a lovely pic of the back of Reading railway station
This is a bit of a cheat as these thermometers are in direct sunlight on the hottest part of the patio, so there’s a lot of reflected heat. I’m staying inside with a milk chocolate Magnum and a good book…
That odd moment in a garden centre and they stock quite nice hardback versions of classics which have - and this is very important - reasonably sized print…
Just dug out the fan for a good clean and will put it back into service for the first time since last October
This is going to be the cover of my ambient album which I shall release under an assumed name.
