Aka "Dr. Gitpaws" which is a tongue-in-cheek amalgam of my love for Science, guitar, and dogs, cats, and assorted critters. Yes I do have a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (Ohio State, 1979). Currently owned and being trained by Scooter, the semi-feral cat.
This is a nice fat Monarch caterpillar on a milkweed leaf. It will grow and turn into a butterfly in late August and September. It will belong to the special "super generation." These adult butterflies fly thousands of miles south to Mexico to spend the winter!
The bees are going nuts over my 48" tall marigolds! I'm guessing Tagetes erecta, also known as African or Aztec marigold. I've never seen marigolds so big before. Must have lucked into the right growing conditions.
For Scooter (the cat) fans, it's Monarch butterfly egg laying time. Here is a female Monarch butterfly laying eggs underneath the leaves of a milk weed. Scooter sees her and gets ready to chase. He loves to chase them. Pardon my panicked voice.
Been busy lately. But I'll try and pop in when I can. Here is the Hummingbird at the feeder, near the very tip of the Canna leaf...
Scooter says hi, it's 102 out here! This was a couple of days ago, 7/2. I keep checking on him, but he lets you know when he's ready to come in!
This is a perfect metaphor for how Trump"s new crypto coin is going right now. It lost 95% of its value and crashed!
Welcome to the Squirrel and Mourning Dove and Deer Watching Party. It's getting to be a real Managerie out there!
Oooh, oooh! I think I found a way... Now all I gotta do is locate it! 😉
This is a European Musk rose bush I planted a few years ago. It is really coming in this year.
Nancy, did you even last one "Scaramucci*" (or "Mooch")? I mean this is his modus operandi after all! (*11 days)
It's a long term NY thing. We have been trained to never let our hopes raise into the sunlight lest they be dashed on the rocks of cruel fate! Or so says "Father Knickerbocker..."
Yes! Also, I have a Scooter right here to form a quantum entanglement to span the distance! But yours is named Mikey! Must be FATE! 😁😂😉
For what it's worth: If you haven't caught Ali Velshi's weekend show ("Velshi" Sat and Sund 10AM-1PM), you might want to record it and watch it sometime. In my opinion, Ali and Chris Hayes are two of the best journalists, interviewers, and writers on the news front anywhere these days.
Thanks, Pete. Yeah, right through Memorial day. Sigh. We're having my grandson and family over and it's supposed to rain all day and Saturday and Sunday! Good thing I mowed the lawn yesterday! 😝
This is where I was three years ago (under this mower) scraping out grass and sharpening blades when this little cat came up to me and adopted me... happy 3 year old gotcha day Scooter...
Oh ITS OK. There's just a new EBOLA virus goning around. What could possibly go wrong...!? (Warning, Sarcasm Alert ⚠️ 📢)
Brutal today. Scooter was out for about 4 hrs till it hit 97° then he came slinking back to the house like let me in! Like a character in: "Gimme Shelter" Oh, the heat is threat'ning My very life today If I don't get some shelter Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away... Good news is he made it!
I am now! Thanks for the heads up... Wait, where are they?
OK got it mostly done: Step3: wire brush off old dead fungus after Borax treatment. Step4: remove turkey wire and paint with a good outdoor acrylic paint. Two coats. And side posts. Step 4. Re-attach turkey wire and its done.
Thanks. I think I snuck it in before the rain came...whew! Fixing fence for another few years. Step 1: kill all the fungus with 10 % Borax... Step2: fill in all cracks and holes with wood patch. Stay tuned for exciting conclusion tomorrow! 😄😉
