Shoulder and upper back work out, with barbells and land mines. Then 1 hour of cardio on the band new elliptical I just added to my home studio for my personal training business. Then 45 minutes of deep stretches and cool down. GETTING OLDER IS NOT FOR SISSIES!!
Listening to a 1940s radio adaptation of a Dorothy Sayers story on the show SUSPENSE! in which Lord Peter Wimsey is described by one of the villains as, "a noted man about town." I always wanted to be, like Lamont Cranston, "a noted man about town." Where does one sign up?
Honoring Jeff “Monoman” Conolly tonight by playing these slabs of vinyl. He was so central to the Boston music scene. There will never be another
Settling in to see The Odyssey in 70mm. My second time. This time, unlike the previous screening I saw, it should be in focus!!!
Caught a Twilight Zone with Ida Lupino & a Columbo with Anne Baxter. In both shows, these women played, fading, dried up shells of their former selves. Lupino & Baxter were only around 40 & gorgeous when these shows were filmed. Agism in Hollywood has always been bad. But back then, it was brutal.
Here is a picture of Luptia Nyong'o with her kitty kat. Your argument is invalid.
I recently produced a novel MS that was 220,000 words long, which is longer than Moby-Dick. I just cut 50k words from it, which is how long The Great Gatsby is. It is now, at 170k words, the length of Dracula. Writing entails a lot of killing your darlings.
Here’s is a picture of Lupita Nyong’o holding her rescued kitty kat. Your argument is invalid.
Just exchanged business cards with a number of people, and did my follow-up emails w/ these new contacts. What I miss? Doing this by handwritten cards by snail mail, OR, via typed letters on my personal letterhead. It at once felt more professional and personal. Ah, well… those days are gone.
Yeah… cold beer. Sitting in front of the fan, sprawled on the couch. Watching some vintage Columbo. This is the Sunday night I need.
At my local branch library, revising a novel. I’ve come to a scene set at… my old local branch library!! OooOoOooo! That’s so META!!
Ok, was watching a book collector on YouTube, and sort of out of nowhere, he took a swipe at William Hope Hodgson’s THE NIGHTLAND. A lot of my colleagues hate it. I have to say, I fucking love it.
Starting my Saturday with coffee and a new slab from @muckandthemires !!
I still have no fucking clue how I got on this assholes radar. From 6 years ago...
Dreamt I started a new course of therapy. I arrived at my new therapist's office, only to discover that my new therapist was... Heath Ledger's Joker. I bet he has some good insights.
On a Ray Russell kick, and decided to fire this one up, which I haven’t seen since I was a kid. (Russell write the screenplay) Funny how memory plays tricks on you. I remember the movie being much more Lovecraftian… (1)
Just caught ROADHOUSE in a theater full of young'uns who'd never seen it. They went nuts for it, and their enthusiasm was infectious. Totally ridiculous 1980s hyper-masculinity played for obscene levels of fun. Just so fucking glorious! They don't make 'em like this anymore...
"Mashed potatoes can be your friend!" --Weird Al Yankovic #DareToBeStupid
If you voted "Thumbs Up" for this piece of shit at the end of the movie, I'm not sure we can be friends.
Yep! My evening is going to involve Star Trek and Superman Meets Spider-Man. Shit that was cool when I was 10 is still cool.
Tabata workouts with medicine balls, and a 40 foot battle rope in the spring sun and air. Blasting cool music. Yeah, this is ok
Buying food downtown. I’ve lost count of how many languages I’ve heard. Arabic. Italian. Portuguese. Chinese. Maybe Turkish? I love it. Makes me feel like I’m really part of the world.
"Join us, Thursday nights on ABC for THAT'S MY BARON! Wackiness ensues when a hard-working Planetary Governor with a Heart of Gold takes in his two kooky nephews while dealing with nosy neighbors from the Spacing Guild and the schemings of House Corrino! Join us for the Love and the Laughter!"
HAPPY TOLKIEN READING DAY!!! March 25th is the day the Ring was destroyed. Celebrate by reading some of the Professor today!! #Tolkien #TolkienReadingDay
RS Benedict correctly pointed out that in modern movies, "Everyone is Beautiful, and No One Is Horny." People are hating on _The Bride!_. I liked it a lot. But love it or hate hate it, _The Bride_ is HORNY AS F*CK!! And for that alone, we have to praise Maggie Gyllenhaal and extend thanks to her.
