I live in rural Michigan. I am as liberal as they come, you know, one of those élites, the kind with a rusted out truck, beat up boots, and a torn jacket I fix with safety pins.
Spot caught a chipmunk. I can't interfere. He's an outdoor cat, and that's what they do... but right next to me? I'm moving.
Reading the first book I grabbed off the shelf. No power so reading by camp lantern and listening to NPR.
I can't afford to get my water well fixed, but I have a stream for non-potable water. Life, eh?
This is why we NDs can't usually keep jobs, can't form deep relationships, and have acquaintances instead of friends. Normal people can't understand us much less try to deal with us, so they drop us or at least keep us at arm's length.
The percentages of Trump support amongst church denominations in the U.S. And they still wonder why young people are turned off by the evangelical heretical cults.
I had no idea that a night out for a comedy performance was so pricey. Mt. Pleasant is a 300-mile round trip for me, but I did consider going to see @jimgaffigan.bsky.social It's the closest he'll ever get. Comedians used to do rural schticks when I was a kid, but they don't do that anymore.
This is -19ºC. There's no snow, so I'm struggling to keep the inside a habitable temperature. Snow usually helps insulate this place. My Ambient Weather link: ambientweather.net/dashboard/c5...
A quarter to 8 in the morning and already 50ºF (10ºC) in northern Michigan in January. They tell us not to get used to it, though. Winter is coming back soon.
When you don't fit the mold no matter how hard you try, you will never win. The world was created by the normals, and they are not inclined to grant neurodivergent folks much leeway.
Our Republican congressman here in northern Michigan actually lives in Louisiana. He's hardly ever here, but because he supports Trump and the Republican attacks on our civilization, he gets re-elected. There oughtta be a law.
Fallout:New Vegas came out 15 years ago today. I lived in Korea at the time, and I played that thing to death. The story was mesmerizing. Only a ma & pa game company would ever make a great game like that again. The big guys are losing their touch these days.
So they're saying a pickup truck with actual flags displayed on it belongs to a leftist killer? Right. All the liberals have pickup trucks with flags. Sure. And I'm the king of Siam.
I just noticed the Michigan capitol building in Lansing could double as a cathedral given some renovations, I suppose.
Bagram Air Base was built by the Soviets and simply taken by the Americans.
If they think it's woke now, here's a new version the company might want to consider...
