An oil painting hanging in a gallery in a simple dark wooden frame. It depicts a Danish woman in a yellow and cream dress, visibly pregnant, leaning against the doorway of a house in summer looking pensive but happy, with one hand resting on her belly. The yellow in her dress beautifully pairs with orange drapes and carpet inside the doorway and a terracotta flowerpot across from here, from which a short shrub rises, its green leaves in turn matching the grass and trees in the garden outside, which while vivid and lively in colour form a twisted and tangles mass in contrast to the simple lines of the woman and the house.

Given decades of interplay between Westerns and Japanese samurai films, The Last Samurai is kind of interesting in the way it closes the loop by having characters from the Old West show up in a jidai geki.
