I've seen this look before at school. It's usually from the school bully who realizes his "buddies" are absent or suspended that day, and they realize they really have no true power or friends.
Red states are probably frantically changing elementary curriculum to classify this as American flag blue now. If that doesn't work, the next step will be to change the flag to this color. Not even sure if this falls under hyperbole in this day and age.
