In other news, I got my mom the new Tomodachi Life for her 62 birthday. She seemed to really like it! We spent an hour making Data and Geordi from Next Generation as her first residents.

Excerpts from a letter to my therapist I wrote this morning.

I feel frustrated at my lack of understanding of myself and my wants/needs. This weekend I spent a lot of time thinking about what I’d really like to be doing with my life. I struggle to envision any positive future for myself. I want to have friends/family around me who love me for who I am, and want to engage in the same interests as me. I want to either not work, or to have a job that I don’t dread.

I also thought a lot about my gender identity. This also frustrates me greatly. I can confidently say that I have never been particularly interested in being identified as a boy or a man. I’ve never fit in with stereotypical boys or men, and I’ve never really wanted to. However, I never really fit in with the girls or women either. Is this because of my gender identity, or just my usual social anxiety, awkwardness, and autism?

When I look in the mirror, or see photos and videos of myself, I don’t really recognize me. I desire to appear to others as cute and sweet, rather than handsome and cool. I don’t feel like anything other than fat, ugly, awkward, and unkempt. I’ve cleaned myself up before and worn stylish, masculine clothes, but I didn’t find any fulfillment in it. However, I think about trying to be like a woman and I can’t help but think about how ugly I’d be.

I’ve sometimes thought that, if given a choice to magically, instantly change my shape, I’d become a beautiful woman without hesitation. I can’t imagine ever actually becoming such a person. I can’t imagine taking a leap to even try to be beautiful or cute with the possibility of regretting it.
