27 years ago I went to my first concert - Gene at Hull University. On Thursday night I finally saw them for the second time. Lots of things have changed in the meantime but not the brilliance of the songs.
Well, look what just arrived - my crowd-funder's copy of Alex Cox's latest (and possibly final) film - Gogol's Dead Souls adapted as a western. Really chuffed to have played even a tiny part in this film existing.
Seems almost churlish to complain given the work that has gone into the #season21 set but making the Doctor's costume look like it's made of ridged cardboard is not what I want from picture restoration (this is from Resurrection).
Had a couple of friends over for a Dr Who night last night and they surprised me with a Christmas present of this gorgeous @indicator.bsky.social box set of British Film Noir. Really looking forward to diving in to this.
Finished season 2 of Silo last night. Today's AppleTV free trial choice is the adaptation of @laurenbeukes.com 's Shining Girls.
It's fitting that I end the year Chris Bidmead died by reading a novel from which his influence drips from the pages - entropy, closed or open systems, the power of words on the universe (no spoilers). Hall has written Dr Who audios so I can't believe he wasn't conscious of this while writing it.

Big new book week this week. Annoyingly I accidentally ordered one to go to my parents' house so it's being forwarded to me, but @naomialderman.bsky.social 's new book has arrived safe and sound. Really looking forward to getting stuck in to this one.

Arrived a day late for Halloween but lookimg forward to finally seeing it.
Idlewild were great as always last night. The obvious songs were the highlights but who needs anything fancy? You Held The World In Your Arms Tonight, American English, Ghost In The Arcade, Modern Way Of Letting Go, In Remote Part - but the new songs fit right in too.
Made it to the train. Book and music (including first listen to the Angelo Badalamanti/David Lynch jazz project Thought Gang) ready. London, here I come.
