Shout out to Sherman's, our local bookstore. Friendly staff, great selection, coffee shop on the premises, and they are happy to do special orders. Plus they have been letting us set up a table out front to promote our campaign to keep the local maternity unit open.

Without saying your age, what is your favorite movie released the year you turned 18? It was my first summer at the Theater at Monmouth, and we all went to see this in Augusta on our one night off. So exciting!

Saturday, July 18, in Newcastle, Maine - come make some Good Trouble! Rally at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park, followed by a standout on the Newcastle/Damariscotta Bridge. Local speakers will talk about what it means to make good trouble, and there will be "revelry, family fun, and peaceful protest."

Some of the flags that kids (and a few adults!) created at Waldoboro Pride yesterday. Some took their flags home, and others agreed to let us keep them to display. My favorite: "Someone loves everything you hate about yourself." What a joyful afternoon!

Here is our old beagle, Ollie. Over a year ago the vet said she was "circling the drain." She is still here, eating and barking and happy to just lie out in the sun!

Another spectacular year for the magnolia. As always, it has attracted hummingbirds. But no orioles this year. (We had them for a short while a few years back but not recently.)

Someone who checked out this library book before I did decided the dedication needed some corrections.

A book dedication: "For my mother-in-law, Anne, who I would never dream of murdering. And for my father-in-law, Peter, who, on the odd occasion, I have." Someone has penciled in the letter m twice to change who to whom.

Five years ago today a careless driver ran a stop sign and hit me. I am grateful for seat belts & airbags, for my coworker who showed up soon after and kept me calm, & for the emergency crew, who made sure I was OK and cleaned up the debris. And I am thankful for every day I still get to be here.

Christmas elves, 1998. My two kids and three of their cousins. Those were fun years, but having adult children with partners/spouses we also love is pretty wonderful.

I am all done baking for the youth group gingerbread house party later this week. My house smells wonderful.

A shoebox lined with plastic wrap is filled with baked gingerbread pieces that will be assembled into little houses. There are also trees, little gingerbread people, and snowmen.
