Thank you! I repotted my plant in this giant pot when I first got it, which helps. I learned my deck garden lesson years ago that if I don’t put things in giant pots, they don’t produce. It’s a bummer with limited space!
I couldn’t figure out why I’ve been sadder lately, and I just realized today is the 20th. 8 months. My body somehow knows?
Some days you wake up and think you haven’t cried about your dad being gone in awhile, and you smile and think maybe it’s getting better. But then you turn your car on and a song comes on that is about the later stages of grief and then you reset the counter to zero. Goddammit Stephen Wilson Jr.
Frank is the only living being I’ve ever seen be both so smart and so happy. He knows what you’re telling him to do, and he only does it when he wants to do it. But he spends much of his time wagging his tail and giving kisses. Aspirational, really.
My hair stylist, who I have visited for a decade and who is usually delightful nutty, was on a TEAR today. I was legit scared of how this hair situation would turn out but thank goodness for skill and muscle memory. 😂
The places on this river community we’re staying in all have plane hangers and this view. There is a private runway. I gotta figure out how to be independently wealthy (also what do I do with a small plane?).
I will celebrate 250 years of our flawed but enduring American experiment with a strawberry basil (from my garden!) lemon spritzer. May we be better in the next 50 years.
Kicking off the vacation fun with a little show directed by a colleague in my writing group.
This old dog loves the young dog so much, and he’s such a patient little soul. 🥰
Yep. We call that behavior “moose muffining”’at my house. As in: the dogs are being moose muffins because they want a second walk when we just got back from the first.
The veggie was amazing. I just wanted a pizza as loaded with veg as possible and this held up.
It is such a joy to enjoy cooking. Here’s tonight’s dinner: tavern-style pizza. The cooked one is sausage, beef, mushroom, onion, and pepper. The unbaked one is all the veggies (and is now in the oven). Yummmmmm.
Grilled shrimp fajitas (with pineapple!), homemade salsa verde ,and homemade tortillas. Incredible.
This baker’s rack was a gift from my parents when I bought my first house 20 years ago. For years, I put dust-collector decorations on it. Recently, it struck me that I should use it for my most aesthetic kitchen supplies and produce. Now I love the look of a restock (of things we’ll really use!).
Anyway, I’ve got a stack of library books to read before they’re due which is a better use of my time than ranting
This is a terrible photo because my dad was trying to take a selfie (14 years ago!) but you can see that he was a cat person. This was my best cat, Rufus, who was an absolute unit and who loved my dad so much I gave him to my parents.
This kitty at the B & B I’m at today for a work event just jumped so deftly to this moving swing that it reminded me what doofuses dogs are. Our scotties could never 😂
To answer the rest of the prompt: He was a car fixing, boot wearing, softball coaching, tractor pull attending, country dancing, NASCAR watching, model train building, animal loving, math tutoring, pigtail making, history reading, breakfast making pushover of a dad.
