UPDATE: Missing hiker located in Strathcona Provincial Park Keshav Jindal has been located alive in the Mount Albert Edward area of Strathcona Provincial Park. Keshav was located in steep terrain, and search and rescue crews are currently working to safely bring him out of the area.

We’re very happy to share that Keshav Jindal has been located alive after an extensive search in the Mount Albert Edward area of Strathcona Provincial Park.
Keshav was located in steep terrain, and search and rescue crews are currently working to safely bring him out of the area.
This search brought together seven Search and Rescue teams from across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland, along with partner agencies.
A huge thank you to everyone who came together through mutual aid to support the search, and to the public for sharing information and supporting the effort.

On southern Vancouver Island, there is a famous Douglas Fir Tree named "Lonely Doug". Common photos show a large tree standing in a clearcut. What these photos rarely show is that ther is another tall Douglas Fir in that clear cut, about 100m away. Lonely Doug isn't so lonely.

The unusual sight has made the news and thousands of people are showing up to see the sea lions. It's a rural area, with a one lane, dead end road to the spit beach. Traffic and noise from the tourist/gawkers has been far worse than the sea lions. Too many people do not follow distance regulations.

I live on the east coast of Vancouver Island, BC. It's herring spawning time and, as usual, 1000s of sea lions are in the area feasting. For the first time, sea lions have decided to rest on the beach at the end of the spit where I live. It's interesting to see and as noisy as you might imagine.

An aurora came in quite strong this evening on Vancouver Island around 9pm with bright undulating green waves, then it faded to the horizon. I couldn't get my camera set up fast enough to capture the waves. #AuroraBorealis #Aurora
