Recently got this album and have played it nearly 50 times already. An incredible mix of spiritual texts combined with funky grooves. James Taylor Quarter featuring Benenden Chapel Choir - Te Deum
Yes! And one thing I always remember is getting this cassette tape way back when and finding a production credit for Curtis Mayfield on it. Always intrigued me.
Not music related but I sometimes think about how Leave It To Beaver was popular at around the same time Francis Bacon was painting stuff like this.
We've got these two as prints. Love the Art Nouveau via 1920s via 1960s vibe of these.
Okay... trust me, I'm not trying to play the 'rare' game here but this album, to me, is a perfect 10/10. I have a difficult time skipping any songs on this. Incredible to me that it doesn't get more hype. Ignore the cover (damn it, did I just kill the 'perfect' rating?) and dig into this beauty.
Hey @criterion.bsky.social , got any new Blu-ray releases we should be hearing about?
Too bad so many can't seem to separate Phil Daniels from Jimmy (Quadrophenia) because he really is a great actor who should be bigger. Just watched Mike Leigh's MEANTIME over the weekend and Daniels is fantastic in that role. (Admittedly, a more '80s contemporary version of Jimmy but still.)
After watching that Colbert skit on Gen Alpha slang, my daughter gives me the evil eye whenever I walk in with a jaunty strut, wink, finger-point and say, "Skibidi!"
Post a VHS cover that scared you as a kid. I can’t begin to tell you how much this VHS cover freaked me out when I was a kid. Yet I’d hunt it out on every video store visit.
