Today I managed to photograph one of the rarest and hardest to find birds in Fraser's Hill, Malaysia. The Silver-breasted Broadbill. #birds #wildlife #birdphotography #nature #wildlifephotography #vogelfotografie #photography #nikonz9 #fotografie #Malaysia #Broadbill

The Silver-breasted Broadbill is a small, stocky forest bird about 16–17 cm long.

Imagine a bird with a large, broad turquoise-blue bill that looks slightly oversized for its body. The head is mostly glossy black, giving it a hooded appearance. Around the neck is a striking white collar, like a neat white scarf.

The upperparts (back and wings) are mainly rich chestnut-brown, contrasting strongly with the head. The underparts are what give the bird its name: the breast and belly are silvery-white to pale grey, appearing bright against the darker upper body.

The tail is relatively short. When perched, the bird often looks compact and round-bodied. In good light, the combination of black head, white collar, silver breast, chestnut back, and bright blue bill makes it one of the most distinctive birds in the Malaysian rainforest.

In this case it is sitting on a tree branch looking sideways to the left of me.
