Monterey Bay Aquarium volunteers sign up to feed our Kelp Forest fronds twice a day.  As soon as we get in the water, the fish know it’s time for lunch! We feed them a wide variety of restaurant-quality sustainable seafood like sardines, anchovies, and squid. 😋

Fish as fluid as the ocean. 🌊 All California sheephead start life as female and move through an array of colors and body shapes as they mature. Some female adults may transition to male as social and environmental factors shift, balancing the delicate ratio of individuals in their population.

This Pride Month, we’re celebrating the beauty of diversity above and below the surface. Environmental advocacy and the LGBTQ+ rights movement share a common purpose: protecting vulnerable communities, caring for the spaces we all call home, and creating a world where we all can flourish.

Almost 300 rescued southern sea otters of all ages have been released back to their ocean home after being cared for in our Sea Otter Program, helping restore their populations and revive the beautiful coastal habitats they call home. 🦦🌊

We aim for all of our resident otters to also serve as surrogate mothers to orphaned otter pups, raising them with the skills they need for a second chance in the wild. 🥹

🧊🦦Pass the otter pops—it’s #WorldOtterDay! We’re showing up to the party with lots of love for our resident otters and the team that makes sure our girls are happy, healthy, and ready for their close up.
